1st Gen. Lunch Table - General Discussion

I'm tempted to burn this piece of shit to the ground. I put the old GPU back in and went to download drivers from Raydeon. Swapped the new GPU in and still nothing. I'm starting to think I have a bad GPU.

 

If you can exchange it, you should just to be sure that you don't have a bad one.

 

Does the mobo have on-board video? If so, it may be the GPU.

 

It does not.

 

Got another GPU laying around you can try? Old one, maybe?

 

Yeah, it works fine with the old RTX 2060.

 

I've been on tomshardware asking there too. I've swapped the PCIe cables, did a safe mode restart, everything they suggested. They're starting to think it's a bad GPU. Can y'all think of anything else I can do?

 

I wish I could tell you. I just haven’t kept up on the latest in PC technology. Sad too, because I’m essentially a computer engineer although I deal mostly with single board VME computers which isn’t exactly the latest in tech for the government.

 

Return the GPU. Sounds like it's FUBAR.

 

I submitted an RMA to newegg. How do I print a shipping label? I have a printer but don't have the sticky paper. Can I just go up to ups and have them print it?

 

You don’t need sticky paper, just clear packaging tape to tape over it and secure it to the package.

 

You have clear packing tape?

Print label. Use packing tape to tape it around the box.

 

UPS should have those clear ziplock stick on label holders, but like everyone already said - just tape it with clear packing tape to the over-box.

For the TX club - since so many said 'oh man' the last time a 5.7l 4x4 regular cab came available.
In Dallas, but a MA truck (& the rust proves where it's from!). But hey, if cheap enough could be some fun.

Copart has a whole bunch of 23's with hail damage in TX right now. Be a cheaper way into a new truck for anyone looking that doesn't mind that golf ball look.

 

Just makes them more aerodynamic.

 

No speaker. When I did have the new GPU in, my VGA light on the mobo would light up.

 

Does your motherboard have both a VGA and PCI-E slot?

Some motherboards require you install your primary GPU card into a specific PCI-Express slow. I don't think you can install a PCI-E card into an AGP slot or vice-versa but it's been so long since I've used an AGP card that I dunno.

Some newer cards require more power and/or more than one direct power feed into the card to function, also.

And I say the above b/c it's weird the "AGP" light would light up on the board if it's in a PCI-E slot, and it's a GPU. AGP is a port. Makes me think maybe a setting in BIOS may've needed to be configured for some reason to make the card work. But you'll know for sure when the replacement comes.

 

Apples and oranges. They shouldn’t fit in the wrong slot.
