I'm having problems with my door lock on driver's door. I can lock the door with the remote and the switch on the door. I cannot unlock the door with the remote or the switch. the remote and the switch will unlock the other doors no problem. What do i look at for the problem. The door switch or the door lock actuator?

Actuator is a common issue for Toyotas. I've replaced all four of mine.

Mostly the actuator motor brushes stick. Wifes 2012 4runner pass side does this once in a while. Took actuator all apart/ not fun and cleaned motor worked for a bit then stopped again. Quick fix was slam the pass door motor would start working again. Have to replace actuator at some point when it stops for good. But so far a quick slam and it goes again for a few weeks. Cheap test/ fix give it a slam.

I bought a new actuator. I bought a new diehard battery about year and half ago. The switch on the inside door panel is doing the same thing.

So inside divers door lock won't work from inside drivers door switch or by remote? How about if you use the right side door switch. Also do they autolock when you start to drive?

OK so I looked at some online posts on other forums and with this specific type of problem the BCM or body control module looks to be the suspect. One person upon disassembly found a burnt trace on the printed circuit board in his BCM. He took it to the stealership, and their master tech replaced everything but the truck i.e. actuator, master switch, key fob etc. before the dealer gave up, that's when the owner looked at it himself and found the burnt trace on the BCM. What year is your truck I'll pull a schematic and see which wires you can jump to run down the problem. I've done tons of electrical diagnostics over the years and it's just a long process of elimination till you isolate the issue.

Here's the Door Lock wiring diagram.I've been doing more research and others have had issues with the master switch on drivers door, loose connection also loose plug on body main control unit. Which is under left kick panel. I believe its the blue connectors. The body control unit is up behind the fuse block. Real pain to get to. But once you get to it you can use a meter or test light to check at the control unit to see its sending power to the actuator motor. You see what colors the wires are in the schematic going to motor. Control unit reverses the power to motor depending on lock or unlock. So since yours is locking it should be fairly easy to see which wire has power to the actuator for lock function. You can check with an ohm meter from ECU to motor to see if there is continuity from ecu to actuator. That will pretty much eliminate all the connectors in between. Before you start this just double check that all your connectors are tight. First check Master switch on door, this is easy to remove and check that connection first. Wiggle it around while hitting your fob and see if that solves the problem. If not move on to check wires from control unit to actuator. Hope this helps some.

Found the problem. Behind the door panel, one of the wires in the plug backed out a little and lost connection. pushed it back in and spread the prongs that holds it in so it wont come back out. Thanks to all that tried to help me.
