I'm pretty sure I went to one with the same sign. I also went to one with a life sized statue of Rabbie. Don't remember the name of that one either.
I spent a year in Scotland. The pub names I remember are the the Crag Dhu, The Three Heided man and the Hairy Coo. Locals for me in Paisley and Glasgow.

If anyone has an older Mini DV recorder/player they are interested in getting rid of, please let me know.

Just for reference this is for the small video cassette tapes that look like VHS tapes (but smaller). They were popular w/older camcorders...

I came across a few cassettes that I believe have some old training footage on, but my old video recorder no longer works. I just want to verify whats on the tapes and transfer them via USB to my laptop, if they are of value, prior to throwing everything away.

Haven't heard of James Sallis. Andy Weir wrote The Martian right? I like his writing.

I've read some Baldacci, The Woman likes his stuff alot. The Jack Reacher books are fun reads, so are Ian Fleming's books.

I read War and Peace in high school. It was a slog.


I'm also currently listening to The Fellowship of the Ring on my commute.

 

As for Drive by James Sallis, I hope you've seen this.



Yeah, Andy Weir wrote The Martian.

I liked Anna Karenina and I've read all the Dostoevsky I can find so War and Peace seems like a sensible next step.

 

Audio books was a major driver behind my getting the Shokz headphones for when I'm walking the park. 90 minutes at a go gets boring. Carr is one author whose books I'm hoping to burn through as I'm walking.

I have seen that. It's a great movie.

 

Absolutely. I finished all of Ice and Fire a few years ago - man, some of that was a slog. Not too many pure fantasy novels in the past several years, but I like sci-fi a lot - - I thought David Simpson's Post Human was great, and Brilliance from Sakey as well. Jennifer Wells Confluence was good enough for me to get the 2nd in that series.

I used to spend the last 30 or 40 minutes of the day with my nose in my Kindle, but I've fallen off of that in the past couple of years. Be good to get back at it.

 

@GODZILLA @Green Thunder Apparently I didn't take many pictures in the highlands.

 

I'd highly suggest the Raven's Shadow trilogy by Anthony Ryan, narrated by Steven Brand.

First book is Blood Song, second is Tower Lord, and third is Queen of Fire.


EDIT: There are additional books, but those three are the ones I have personally listened to, and they were quite good.

 

@1794TX I would also suggest not reading up on them or anything. Just use audible or something to start the first one and see what you think. I may be biased because I hate spoilers.
