I saw those bodies. I was gonna get one for my Emaxx, but wanted to keep a more scale and realistic look

 

Definitely need a long travel version. Absolutely the most desirable though least common...

These will obviously have Trans Coolers, correct?

 

I know, bodies fit with some modifications though.

 

Be sweet if he made one that fits a trail finder 2 since thats like the defacto toyota rc lol

Any recent update on this project? I have a 3D printer if a file needs test printing!

 

I've started and stopped about a million times, slowly making progress again. I'm essentially modeling each component using 2d sketches and extruding them to create the curvature of the surfaces. I'm sure there's way easier and more efficient ways to do it, but it's what I can do with what I've got.

 

Just recently got into 3D modelling, simple stuff is a breeze. I can only dream of doing something that complicated.

I can't even imagine, I have yet to try my luck at designing my own models, I have only printed what is currently on Printables or Thingiverse. I wish I could lend you some knowledge or time as I would love to help out and get that project completed!

 

Some more progress:


Trying to make it as simple as possible for printing purposes, yet retaining the key design elements.



Parts like the hitch receiver are cut at 1.1x in order to leave room for expansion tolerances during printing.

 

Would that fit on an Axial Wraith frame? I would love to have one of these

Once I have everything modeled, I can scale the design to various ratios for people to download. At that point, I'll have to get some numbers from you and we'll see what we can do. The only hang up would be that I assume there's a cage/base for the vehicle that would require modification to the design. And of course not having the thing in front of me means that there could be real world issues once printed. Not sure I have that in me lol

 

I'm sure your local hobby shop will gladly sell you one.

Did you watch that YT video of the guy teaching you how to make a donut?

This guy has a whole video series on how to make the donut. He's just teaching 3D design for free.

 

This looks amazing. I recently got a 3d printer and am loving it. Can't wait to try and print this.

 

This has been by far the most difficult portion of the modeling process. Figuring out how to make the cab printable has been a nightmare. Progress though.
