Loved my Texas DL bar. I bought mine from a local vendor. Mine had this weird green’ish color. I emailed them and they sent me a brand new one just because the color wasn’t right.

A few years ago I did a charity event for a local children’s hospital. Deadlifts for Doernbechers. I got the opportunity to use Chris Duffins prototype DL bar. Man that thing had some whip.
Good times. Now I have the VA saying they may take my right foot. I think there was some sarcasm in that appointment, but given their track record I wouldn’t put it past them. Needless to say I don’t lift like I used too. Wish I could.

I’m going to expound on this wise thought in The morning I’ll show you how this 56yr old stays out of the hospital

I’m old enough to not want to post pictures from my phone I prefer my desktop at work.

then we might get back to ev’s. Maybe

And previous injuries can’t be overcome. That’s where I am at now. It is what is and you figure out how to adapt and overcome.

In EV news, does anybody have clear PPF? Not the Tesla option. I am looking for some comparisons of panel edges in order to form realistic expectations, or use my case to validate having a shop remove my current film and go after a full refund.

I’ve had two knee surgeries, and countless shoulder issues. I’ve adjusted what I did before and am almost pain free, and seeing the growth from it.

Most of my Tesla is PPF. I forget the brand, but same stuff they use on Corvettes as my guy works for Chevy. Corners are always an issue, but if you stay away from pressure washers it’s usually fine

I haven’t even taken a hose to it. In fact it just came out for the third time last week. I didn’t drive it in this winter storm so that it wouldn’t get covered in road grime. I don’t want to publicly shame this company…but it is probably coming soon.

It was in Portland. The bumper film has been replaced twice now. I think I have some moisture under the edge between the frunk and the bumper. I hope it drys and is ok. Other wise I told them what was coming next.

If you need a guy I used a guy in Hillsboro for my PPF on the front of my Tundra. He also did the window tint on the Tundra and my wife’s Subaru. One man shop so had to work with him on schedule but he did excellent work.

ok, here we go... for the record, I've been lifting since '87.

1st up the belt squat setup. yes, I know...all of you are going to say that I should have never put it there...as I was begging for "someone" to hit it. but I don't have any more room in the garage. Belt skwats are awesome for everyone...especially old tired powerlifters...it takes your lower back out of the lift. we usually finish with these. <Included a pic of the Plaid, so that this qualifies as EV related.>
    upload_2024-1-24_5-9-41.png

This is the gym setup as it has been since early 2001.
    upload_2024-1-24_5-10-39.png
    from right to left.
45 degree hyper - old dudes should always do these.
my flat bench - standing on end
adj DB's right behind the flat bench -> 5lbs to 85lbs
on the wall, up top is the Capps bench bar.
below that is the Elite Fitness safety skwat bar.
in the middle, is the Crepensik cage. it has a monolift attachment - see how the skwat bar is sitting, if you unrack it, the hooks fall away. no need to step back. very safe. here, it's set up for speed skwats, yes , those are big rubber bands pulling the bar down - long story.
in front of the cage, kinda, is the white Louie Simmons Reverse Hyper. VERY good for the back
next to it is the black Glute Ham raise machine. Super good for humans. the rear of it is raised to make it harder.
towels are draped over most crap because I sweat like I'm on the Amistad.
next to that is the lat hi/lo pull machine. notice the new Elite Fitness multi grip lat bar...its awesome.

heavy chains are lying on the ground in front of that grey chair...more on the other side of the cage.

I stay "safe" by doing all heavy lifts in the cage with either the safety bars adjusted accordingly or I use those tow chains that are hanging on it. once the bar is inside the chain it will not fall lower than waist high...or however you adj the chain - kinda like spud straps.
at no time can we get squished by the weight if we fail. All gyms should use quality cages.

for dynamic bench, we attach the j hooks & lift inside the cage - with safety bars set to our safe height.

for heavy bench I tend to do floor press. I slightly tore my right pec back in 2016. here is how I do it.
    upload_2024-1-24_5-19-0.png
chains are ~20lbs each...that's 8 chains a side. we work up chain by chain. that was my top weight last week. so, at the top of the press it's 385lbs...at the bottom, when your triceps touch the floor, the chains deload & there is about 305-ish lbs on the bar. this saves my old man pecs. & still allows me to press heavy weight.

we don't do any Olympic type lifting, one bad lift and that usually gets you crippled.
We generally train around the bench, skwat & deadlift. and the variations of such.

we rarely do free skwats. we mostly work from a box and use various heights.
a box skwat, done correctly, is for more efficient/effective than a free skwat.

we, as all humans should do, train the shoulder complex every bench day. this will keep you healthy & maintain your ability to lift your arms above your head.

oh...for skwat warmup, we generally do asian skwats...you know, skwat all the way, just bodyweight, down like an asian man. if you can't do them...get to work, ya lazy bastards.
    upload_2024-1-24_5-44-17.png

and I don't like a cold bar in the winter...so, we heat it before we lift. that's how we roll. garage was 40 degrees in that pic.
    upload_2024-1-24_5-21-46.png

for the discerning eyes...there is a monster sound system in there...Frankenstein stuff from years past. mostly old car stereo shit.
2 systems of 6 channels of stereo + 7 subwoofers. yes, it sounds THAT good. The Sony receiver on the lower right is for the outside pool system. that little white subwoofer is the monster of the show..SVS Micro 3000. go get one. your welcome.

and I don't need any disparaging comments about my wiring technique. it works.

I blame the car company aswell. I Drive an VW id.4 as my EV car but never had an issue charging. Sure Electrify America charge stations are sometimes down but when i charge i always avg 80-100kw with peak 170kw as low SOC. I've met both subaru and toyota EV ppl at the stations and all complain on charging speed. Just like the ungodly slow chevy bolt.

So i don't think the EA charge stations are to blame.

All of the essentials! I love the old school
shit, and wish u we’re neighbor during Covid lockdowns. Lifting keeps you sane.
I haven’t done a free squat in idk how many years. I do leg presses, hack squats, Bulgarian split squats, and walking lunges to replace it. As long as you’re in the hole (I try for hammies on calves) then ur gonna grow

yup. Lifting, more than anything else, is a meditation.

once you tune into that aspect, you get healthy.
