It has been very cold in NW PA recently. I wanted to use my key fob to perform the remote start so the truck could warm up. I could not make the remote start work from inside my house but less than seventy feet away. This was never a problem when I had a Ford. What good does it do having a remote that has such limited range. Is this the way all new 2024 Tundras are behaving ?

Since yours is a 2024, you should still be able to do remote start via the app on the one year trial. Not excusing the poor range for the fob, but just an alternative if you weren’t already aware.

Interesting bit of science for ya'... Press the fob to your neck and try it, it'll increase your range.

Yep. hold it against the side of your head, It'll double the range. Can do the same holding it against a gallon jug of water. Your brain is 80% water.

My 2022 Mach 1 and the 2022 Ram truck I traded for my Tundra apps would start them from inside a restaurant and it was free. WTF Toyota !!!

Did they reduce the range for security on the new trucks? I almost never use my fob because I once walked it out with a new battery and I could unlock the truck at 350 yards with line of sight. That's a lot of potential area for thieves to hide listening for signal.

Internet says poop is 75% water. Oh dear now that's in my search history

Fob range is embarrassing, even for gen 2 trucks.

Toyota Fob range sucks in general across all models. Not just Tundra. Try finding a Toyota in a parking lot of 100+ cars is my struggle everyday working on rental fleet vehicles.

Trick to increase range is like other have said above. Holding key to chin works pretty well for me. Personally I use the app everyday with my Tundra.

I believe this is done purposely to increase subscriptions to the app.

I hold the fob to chin, definitely helps. Meanwhile my Chevy I can be 1-2 football fields away with it still working

Here’s a different point of view on this. Perhaps they shortened the range so thieves can’t trigger the fobs (using a signal grabber) when they are in the house.

yes they shorten the range for theft protection. These new keyless entry vehicles are very easy to steal.

Like it or hate it that’s the reason. My tacomas key fob works like 1/4 miles away. But you need a key to start that truck.
