    Hey all,

We just bought a new travel trailer that we're going to pull with our TRD Pro. I have a regular hitch that should work just fine. However, I started reading about this Gen-Y torsion hitch and it seems pretty slick. Granted its heavy, so thats taken out of the payload calculation. Overkill? stupid for this truck? I was going to grab a B&W hitch with the hideaway feature, so the Gen-Y is definitely not one to hide stuff away.

The gen-y claims many things, but the biggest I liked was what they claim is for travel trailers, it supposedly helps the sway. I also like that it is slightly better on some forest service roads, since we dont want an articulating hitch.

Thoughts on this or similar hitches?

How heavy is the new TT? I don’t see WD as part of these hitches either, is it an option?

Yes, you can use WD in conjunction, or so I thought. Thats a deal breaker because we need a WD hitch. The TT is 5885 lbs dry.

    Lots of stuff!
I would consider this for towing in an overland situation at lower speeds.

The flex in the connection would be great. I would add airbags to lift up the rear of the Pro as well.

For highway driving, a weight distribution hitch with sway control would be the best choice.

It is a balancing act to get the safety and stability by creating a stiff connection and avoiding sway. But this is not desirable if you are overlanding as it puts excess stress on the trailer A-frame and the truck so bring in the gen y hitch. This is how I would approach this towing situation.

This is a problem I didn't know existed. A good WDH does solve an existing problem when towing heavier trailers. And once properly set up they do a tremendous job.

I use a dual cam WD hitch setup. Have been using it for almost 20 years. Works very well and considered superior to friction type sway bars by many.

Likewise: Reese dual-cam has been great. WDH and sway control. Super stable on our TT (3600lbs dry). Tows like a dream on the Tundra
