Whenever I am in 4 high, and select any Multi-terrain select mode other than "dirt", a warning appears on my screen "VSC Turned OFF; Pre-Collision Brake System Unavailable" along with the warning lights for traction control and pre collision coming on. When in "dirt" mode, none of these warnings or lights come on. The truck drives as I expect despite the warnings, and while I can temporarily exit the warning it just comes back a few seconds later.

The warning first appeared after a trip to Moab, where we had some minor trail damage that took out the air dam. The dealership attributed the warning to the broken air dam, but I've since replaced the front bumper and installed the air dam delete module which would, in theory, elminate this issue. It always confused me how the air dam would cause the error (what would it have to do with 4 high and the VSC?).

I plan on making an appointment with my local shop as I have other reasons not to trust my dealership, but wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar issue and found a possible solution?

Mine does the same thing since new. I've thought it was normal. And my truck wasn't equipped with air dam. :monocle:

Hmm, so maybe it's a "feature" and not a "bug"? lol

I sure hope not. I don't recall that warning popping up before, but then again maybe I was always in dirt mode. It's really annoying considering you can't make it go away. Besides, who cares about vehicle collision systems when you're on the trail in deep snow or mud?

    It’s normal.

Also Pre-Collision and other Safety Sense functions are disabled when VSC is off. The message is annoying though.

Well, dang; thanks so much for posting that snippet - it reminds me I need to get a replacement manual, mine got stolen the one time I forgot to lock my truck overnight.

typically vsc is turned off since you need tire slip in certain conditions to keep momentum. if vsc was on it would brake that tire and negate the advantage of having MTS.

good example is those video's showing crawl control where you need some slip to dig yourself out. but crawl control has its own unique logic for vsc that helps the truck dig out.

Agreed, I came here to say this. If MTS didn't turn off or change the logic of VSC and wheel slip then it wouldn't be MTS and there would be no need for it. Trucks without MTS function like this where you need to know to manually turn off the VSC by holding the button in certain situations where you can't get momentum. You wants the wheels to be able to slip more than normal in snow and mud/sand. Instead of having only one recipe for manually turning VSC on or off while in 4wd, MTS gives you different levels of allowed slip before it intervenes.
