Toyo R/T Trail

Anybody running there? If so what are your thoughts especially with wet road handling? My second set of Trail Grapplers are almost done so time to start thinking about new tires. We have the Toyo AT3 on our 4runner and love them but I like the looks of the new R/T Trail. TIA

 

Mine just got here, as well as some new rims. They get installed next Wednesday. I’ll let you know my initial and long term impressions.

 

I decided to give them a try, had 295/70r18 put on yesterday and I think I'm really going to like them. I debated between them and the Toyo AT3, which we already have on our 4runner.

 

Shit man, exact same size I got. What height are you running up front? What offset and any trimming?
My shop canceled last minute- new install date is 9/26…

 

Bilstein 6112's at 1.9, factory wheels, no spacers, no rubbing, no trimming, only removed the little mud flaps on the front bumper.

 

Interesting. The rims I got are +18 offset, so I’m thinking that there will probably be some rubbing. I’m just not sure how much rubbing there will be…

 

And what’s going on in this picture? Is the truck still jacked up?

Was debating if I should make my own thread, but fuck it, I’ll add to this one.
I’ve put about 5,000 miles on my Toyo RT Trails (295/70/18), and I’ve been through a vast amount of terrain. Road noise is very minimal, wet traction is amazing, and they do really well offroad. I’ve been in everything but fine grain sand, and snow. From the way they’ve preformed elsewhere, I have to imagine they’re pretty good in it. I’ve gone on a few offroading trips, and these tires have not let me down. From crawling to mud to shitty ass Texas clay mud, they’ve gotten me through it all. I’ll keep it down to just 3 pictures…



For those of you near North Texas, the place I went to is called Bridgeport OHV park. Amazing location.

 

Any updates on these tires in the snow?..

 

My ass lives in Texas, so I doubt I’ll be able to give you any info on that. However, if you give me a few weeks I can probably give you an update on how they handle on pure ice. Will be the same result as any other tire, but meh.

I have these for about 10k miles. Overall they perform really well. However, snow performance is mediocre at best. I have also had the same performance on cold wet (not icy) surfaces. I do like these much better than the KO2s that they replaced.

 

Yeah I'm coming from k02s also..trying to figure out if I should stay with another AT tire or try the rt trail.

The one thing I will say about these tires, is that they chunk… It’s not too too bad, but the rubber is super soft. It also depends on how heavy you are with the acceleration. I tend to hit shit hard, especially while offroading.
