Had a weird experience. They have a “shop” in Sacramento they advertise on CL, fb marketplace. I did some digging into the company. Seems shady, the communication I got was weird. Overall bad vibes and I see too many flight by knight companies .

Thank you for sharing. One local (Bay Area) seller came up on FB Marketplace when I was looking for Tundra wheels. The communication was actually pretty good. The only thing that I found is a "bit off" is the fact that there are not a lot of business information (e.g. registered LLC).

In their defense, there's no negative product review on the Tacoma forum either. With this in mind, I'm giving them the benefit of a doubt and if I can buy a set of brand new wheels for $1650 and pay in cash at delivery instead of ˜2k plus taxes... I'm not opposed...

FN wheels is also based out of Lodi , or might be Turlock forgot. @FNWheels hooks it up with lugs, and free shipping if you pickup at a FedEx store. His customer service is great and very prompt.

Thank you for the positive feedback! I really appreciate it!

However, I just want clarify a few things:

FN Wheels is located in Corona, California (a few hundred miles south of Lodi or Turlock). All of our wheel prices listed online include shipping anywhere in the contiguous 48 states, but we do offer an additional discount if you pick up at FedEx store.

All of our wheels are shipped with all edges reinforced, double boxed in a handle-less outer box for added protection, and all deliveries are sent fully insured with signature confirmation. Again, this shipping is included in our standard price online, but it's worth noting that our shipping practices far exceed industry standards. It costs us two to three times the amount that our competitors spend on shipping wheels, but I have always felt that the way a company ships their product says a lot about how they feel about the quality of their product and their respect for the customer. Anyone can take a label and slap it on a wheel box that came from a random supplier overseas. I personally perform a quality control inspection on 100% of our wheels before shipping to our customers, and then we package and ship our wheels in a way that will get them to our customers in the same condition as when they left our warehouse.

We are not affiliated with any other wheel company other than loosely with Konig Wheels (who we have a lot of respect and a decades long relationship with). We (FN Wheels) are an established company that has been producing Toyota specialty wheels continuously for nearly 20 years. A lot of these other discount brands that (I am not naming any specifically nor am I referring to the wheels in the original post) are primarily companies that come and go and re-brand every couple of years. They find wheels on Alibaba / Ali Express, import a few containers of really cheap wheels, dump them on forums, Facebook marketplace, etc., and then when there are problems they fold up and disappear. I've seen it many, many times over my 25 years in this business, and it's become especially prevalent over the last 10 years or so. Some companies last a little longer, but most last 2-3 years, disappear, and then pop up again under a different name.

We have used the same partner factories for the last 20 years, and we've cut out some of our suppliers who couldn't uphold our strict standards. I've had the same phone number and cell phone number forever, and anyone can reach me. I've met thousands of customers face to face over the years.

Again, thank you very, very much for the positive feedback @vorkuta775 . This post is in no way meant to be offensive to anyone, but since I received a notification that my company was tagged I just wanted to clear up any confusion. We are extremely grateful for all of our customers from Tundras.com, Tacomworld, T4R.org, FJ Cruiser forums, IH8Mud, GXOR, word of mouth customers, non-Toyota customers, and all of our customers everywhere.

    Sincerely,

    Dustin

    Hi @myfirsttundra1 ,

The shipping discount depends on your exact location, but it's usually comes out to be somewhere between $30 to $60 on a set of four wheels. This is something we came up with a few years ago to try to help customers out. We don't profit any extra from shipping to a nearby FedEx authorized location, but for many of our customers the benefit is two-fold. You save money on the shipping, and it also prevents you from having to wait for the FedEx driver on the delivery date. When we ship to an authorized FedEx pick up location (i.e. FedEx Office Print & Ship Center, Walgreens, Dollar General, certain postal annex stores or grocery stores, etc.), you can pick your packages up at your convenience within five days of delivery. Many of our customers have found this to be very helpful and beneficial. It does create a little more work for us since we look up a list of nearby locations, go over the list with you, and then enter your preferred shipping address, but we don't mind as long as it helps our customers.

As for additional discounts for forum members - we try to keep our prices extremely fair and reasonable for all of our customers, especially relative to the quality of our products. We've absorbed a lot of price increases over the last two years. Consequently, our margins have been reduced significantly. I wish we could offer extra discounts, but there just really isn't any room for extra discounts without cutting quality or service, neither of which we're willing to do. We're about as slim as we can get. Said differently, if you've purchased a set of wheels from us over the last 3 years there is a discount built into the price even though we may not have advertised it as a discount.

However, there are some discounts we can offer. Shipping and credit card processing fees account for a fairly substantial portion of the price. If you want to pay with Zelle, check, cash or money order we can offer a 5% discount, and if you can pick your wheels up from us the discount is at least $150 off the advertised price on our website since we do not have to pay for shipping.

I'm very leery, especially these days, of too good to be true prices. When I see 17" wheels for under $800 with shipping and 18" wheels for under $1,000 with shipping I really question the quality of the product and service that a vendor is able to provide at those prices, because I know how much these wheels cost when produced with good materials and good manufacturing processes. I also know how much shipping and operational costs have risen for the last few years.

Off topic, but I look at food the same way now. There are a lot of cheap additives or alternatives that are showing up in food these days so that the manufacturers can keep the prices low. I'd rather pay a little more and eat something prepared with extra virgin olive oil instead of soybean oil or canola oil. I take the same approach with our products. We could cut back and drop our prices by 25%+, but then you're looking at getting wheels that aren't made from virgin A356 T6 Dubal aluminum alloy (they'd be high recycled content, low grade aluminum alloy), the finishes might be substandard, the wheels wouldn't be flow formed, the load ratings might be lower, there'd be no real warranty or guarantee, and shipping would be riskier and lower quality (i.e. flimsy packaging, not fully insured and no signature confirmation upon delivery). We probably wouldn't be able to offer unlimited phone support, wait after hours to meet local customers, answer text messages after hours, etc.

There are a lot of companies that operate this way, and many customers are OK with it because the price is right, but a lot of us are willing to pay a little more to get something better. That's probably why we drive Toyota trucks and not some of the other brands.

Again, I mean no offense to anyone nor am I offended by your questions. I like discounts too. I just wanted to answer your question with more than a statement of "we can't offer any extra discounts."

Thank you Dustin@FNWheels for this insight!

This definitely helps to make a decision on whether people want to go with a reputable, quality brand or a cheap one. Although 'cheap' doesn't necessarily mean the quality is bad, there is a risk that if you buy a 'cheap' brand, the quality might be inferior, and the company could disappear. This might also affect any warranty claims.

    [Edit]
I wrote this answer before reading your last post, where you mention the warranty concerns.

How do you like those tires? Can you post a front end shot so we can see the tire poke?

    I have @FNWheels Five stars on my GX470 in 17x8.5 -6 offset.

I've been searching for a light weight wheel in 17x8.5 with a hub diameter that will fit the Tundra (or a common size that a hubcentric ring is sold in) with an offset that will still allow a 35" - 37" tire to compress into the wheel well, not the fender with a 3" lift.

Yesterday, I tried to mount my FN Five star on the Tundra, but wasn't able to. The lug holes are drilled for 12mm studs and the Tundra has a 14mm stud.

I contemplated stepping up the lug bore, but it doesn't look like there's enough meat left for the lug tapper to seat to if I increased the diameter.

I know FN is getting ready to release more colors in their +25 offset Fivestar that's designed for the Tundra, but the positive offset kills the concave look of the wheel (in my opinion).

I wish FN would release their Countersteer in a 0 offset with the spoke dimensions of the 16" version!

I have ICON Recon 17X8.5 +25. Not sure if 31 lbs is lightweight enough.

Race Relation Wheels does make 17X8.5 wheels that are in the mid 20 lbs with better wheel concavity, but they will have a lower wheel offset that will make your tires poke out more.

I love the look of your truck!

I have Lil B's bumper on my GX470 and I'm looking at his for my Tundra. I'd love to see more pics of that rear bumper. It's not listed on his site though.

31# is what my current OEM wheels weight. I love the look of some of the Icon and Method wheels, but I'm looking for something in a low 20# range.

I actually have a set of the RRW wheels in my cart, but can't bring myself to buy them until the bronze is back in stock. I think the 0 offset wouldn't poke too much. We'll see though - maybe Dustin will read this and concoct my dream wheel!

A 0 wheel offset definity looks better and it doesn't poke that much. I also have a set of ICON wheels in that offset. However, it was rubbing whenever I took my truck on the trails...and my rig is already lifted 4 inches. The +25 offset on my new set of wheels solved the rubbing problem. I think the ideal wheel offsets for Tundras are +20mm to +30mm if you don't want tires rubbing on your fenders, etc.

We're you rubbing on your fenders with the 0 offset, or somewhere else?

Do you have a build thread?

    Hi @ArBrnSnpr -

I just replied to your private message, but I thought I'd answer your request here as well to help anyone else who might be reading this. I also don't want to take this thread too far off topic, so anyone who would like more information about our wheels for the new Tundra please feel free to contact me directly. I'll also work on getting a new thread started specifically to discuss our wheels for the new Tundra.

Previous versions of the 16" and 17" Five Stars were machined with 13mm stud openings (extra deep) for a tight fit around 12mm Toyota studs. All Five Stars produced after 2020 feature 16.2mm stud opening for use with extended thread aka "ET" lugs. The 17x8.5" -6mm offset Five Stars are great for vehicles such as your Lexus GX or even a 2000-2006 Tundra, however I wouldn't advise that you install 17x8.5" -6mm offset wheels on the new Tundra. As you alluded to, we have a better option for you that was designed specifically for the 2022+ Tundra.

I think once all of the design, engineering, testing and certification details are taken into consideration the appearance of the wheel makes a lot more sense.

The flatter/slightly convex face is necessary for brake clearance, load bearing capacity and to maintain a positive offset all of which are necessary for the new Tundra. In order to achieve a deep, concave face profile the wheel typically requires a lower offset (which would lead to too much rubbing on the Tundra). Concave face profiles also reduce load bearing capacity somewhat due to the angle of the spokes, and the new Tundras require a pretty significant load rating particularly when outfitted with larger diameter tires.

Many, if not most, wheel manufacturers don't tell you what tire diameter they used when testing / load rating their wheels. I knew that customers were going to want to install 37" diameter tires on the new Tundras. Larger tire diameters exert more stress on the wheel, and consequently we had to alter the face profile to meet the load requirement of the Tundra/Sequoia/LX600. It was of particular importance to me that our wheels would be strong enough to handle the weight of the vehicle + modifications + 37" diameter tires when tested to the very strict SAE J2530 standard (significantly tougher standard than just JWL-T).

The necessity of providing a positive offset for good wheel well clearance combined with the need for adequate OEM brake clearance (Tundras have fairly large OEM brakes) also limited our ability to offer a more concave face profile.

You can dynamically balance our 17" wheels on a Tundra with the use of low-profile, stick-on wheel weights without any interference between the balancing weights and the brake caliper. I know for a fact that brake clearance is an issue with other brands of 17" wheels. The wheel weights will drag on the caliper which limits you to a static balance on the inside flange of the wheel only. A static wheel balance is sub-optimal when it comes to ride quality and tire wear.

Strength, safety and fitment were our main priorities with an emphasis on maintaining a style as close as possible to our other Five Stars. I think we came as close as possible without sacrificing the strength and offset requirements of the new Tundra. We were also able to keep the weight down as low as possible while maintaining these parameters. The 17x9" +25 Five Stars are right around 24.5lbs per wheel, and the 17x9" +25 Six Shooters are right around 26.9lbs per wheel.

The Five Star is one of those wheels that you have to see in person and with a tire installed to truly appreciate. The wheels look really good with all terrain or more aggressive tires once installed on a Tundra.

Five Star Flow Formed 17x9" +25 6x139.7 95mm center bore with 37x12.50R17 tires:

Offset as a measurement is relative to a lot of other factors. The 2022+ Tundra comes from the factory with 7.5" or 8" wide wheels and +60mm offset wheels. The 2000-2006 Tundra, for example, came from the factory with 16x7" +15mm offset or 17x7.5" +15mm offset wheels, so +0mm or negative offsets aren't as far a departure as it would be on a new Tundra.

+0mm offset will stick out quite a bit beyond the edge of the fender which will severely limit your travel and the ability for the tire to fit into the wheel wells under compression (something you previously mentioned).

The 3rd Gen Tundra is still relatively new. We don't yet know how wheel bearing and axle durability will be affected by really low offset wheels and larger, heavier tires. My educated guess and past experiences lead me to believe that longevity is going to be sacrificed if the wheel offset is too low, especially with the smaller hub diameter of the new Trucks (95mm diameter hubs for the third gen Tundra vs. 106mm for the first gen or 110mm for the second gen Tundras).

We have Six Shooter flow formed wheels in 17x9" +25 6x139.7 (95mm hub centric) available now in matte black.

    Six Shooter Collage Copy (2).png

    Six Shooter Collage Copy.png

We're looking at late Spring for more colors such as matte bronze.

Also, we are developing a 17x9" positive offset, high load capacity, good brake clearance version of the Countersteer Type X. I think you might really like this design. Here are a couple of renderings:

17x9 +32 Countersteer Type X rendering for new Tundra (2).jpg

I really appreciate all the feedback and discussion from everyone in this thread on this forum. It really helps me quite a bit to get a feel for what our customers are thinking and what they'd like to see, and it also gives me a chance to explain more about our wheels. Thank you all!

That’s weird they must have changed the design. I have the same wheels from AGP and I am using the stock lug nuts.

@FNWheels, that 17x9 countersteer X is exactly what I'm looking for!

    Any ETA on those?

The 17x9" Countersteer Type X flow formed wheels with positive offset, high clearance and heavy duty load rating should be available this summer (Summer 2024).

AGP only sells their wheels online or through dealers; they don't have a storefront in Sacramento. They had a shop in Sacramento for a few years, but now they only sell through dealers or online. All of the wheels come with a free lifetime guarantee, and I have seen AGP wheels at Toyota dealership. The brand is growing and adding new styles every month. This is, I believe, a lot of competition-related nonsense. It is unlikely that they go out of business in the near future.

Any updates on the countersteer type x wheels? What offset will these be?

I'm not-so-patiently waiting on these too.

I'm hoping they're out early summer, or sooner!

We're still in the development stage working out the final details. I initially came up with 17x9" +25mm ~ +32mm offset, but there seems to be growing demand for slightly higher offsets. I'm working on tweaking the design a little to see if we can increase the offset slightly, but it mind end up that we stick with an offset in the +25mm to +32mm range so that we don't have to modify the look and style too much.

This is easy to determine. Assuming the same width tires are used, the added offset going from 60mm to 12mm is 48mm. Convert that to inches and you get 1.89". So the new setup will poke out 1.89" more than the previous setup.

If wider tires are used for the new setup, add half the difference in width. So if you go from a 255mm wide tire to a 275mm wide tire, add half the difference (10mm) to the amount of increased poke.

I finally got mine on today, they're pretty perfect offset wise with TRD Pro fenders. That is what I was most worried about was too much poke which I think woulda been too much for my liking with the stock fenders. I ended up going with the SCS M14 X 1.5 ET lugs and the Wildpeak AT4W in 35 X 11.5 X 18 Load C. Stock suspension. I did pin the fender liner back beforehand and took off the mud flaps, so I can't confirm if they would rub if I didn't do that but they don't rub now. Overall pretty happy with the AGP's.

    Damn that looks so good.

Looks like the total weight is around 92 lbs per corner? Curious how much it affects acceleration and cruising. Is 10th gear still usable?

Drives just fine, you can tell there's heavier tires on then stock but theres no lag and it’s still got plenty of power. The C load rides like a street tire.
