Northern Arizona seemed like a good compromise. Much more pleasant summers. I liked it.

Yep. The wife and I have discussed moving as Tucson's heat is getting old and it has become way too big and (political comment redacted), but prices for homes are just insane up north.

Yo Dez! I been meaning to ask you a question. When you had stock tires on your 04, were you able to burn rubber just by flooring it? Not power braking. I want to put some 4.10's in my 03 one of these days. But I'm just curious if that's enough for the non-vvti and 4spd auto to burn stock rubber or if I should just say screw my mileage and go for 4.30's

If my tires are cold, mine will burn rubber. Took me 3 tries to get a decent 0-60 run. And still had to do a soft launch.

Never seemed to get any wheel spin in dry weather on stock tires, even then I always kept some weight in the bed in combination with the shell. That combined with the LSD always gave good traction and got me up to speed quick with the 4.10s.

My 03 feels peppy AF. But it won't burn rubber from a stop with just the gas down, unless I'm also turning

Snowy and shitty here for the last week or so. Not the worst snow I've ever seen, but great timing. Staying indoors with our newest turd machine is pretty good.

Do any all terrain tires work well on ice? I'm guessing not. I spun all 4 tires going up a hill covered in ice/snow last night in 4HI. kO2s do great in snow but they don't love the ice(not that I expected them to). They get the job done but it requires some finesse.

    This is my road today.
    PXL_20240120_123337360.jpg

Notice tire tracks on the right? We watched a girl go through our neighbors yard rather than the road.

I have minor ice dams forming on my gutters. Not sure what I can do about that now. @Jack McCarthy ? @BroHon .

Sorry guy, go ahead and report me. I can’t just let that one go.

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Genesis 12:1-3

About the only thing you can do if you don't have heat tape is grab some of the water softener pellets and put them in the gutters. They make larger pucks for roof melting but I'm guessing the stores down there probably don't stock them.

Yeah probably not. If I took a torch and melted the ice would that backfire on me later? I've never had to deal with this in my life. You yanks are tougher than us.

We've gotten some snow here but not quite what you all got. My truck remains parked in the driveway with my shitbox taking salt duty.

Shitbox is doing shitbox things which is actually unusual for it as it's done me pretty well the past bunch of years, blower motor took a shit while it was 10 degrees out so swapped that out quick and now the speed sensor is hit or miss which makes it shift real funny. At 467k it's doing pretty well though I guess.

Been a little MIA this week. Starting a new job on a day shift schedule has had me a little out of it but starting to get the hang of it, now if they could stop canceling due to the weather, that'd be great.

    Weight reduction, mostly rust.
They make Pucks you can throw up there (not a huge fan), or just use sidewalk rock salt on the edge (if you have a ladder).
Not sure if you have huge hanging Ice buildup but protect lower windows or sliding glass doors if you salt it.
Check ingredients of whatever you use... I wouldn't use anything with Calcium Chloride, it works better down into colder temps, but its harsh... plants/lawn/dogs feet/ UH.. your fish are prob safe.
I hate gutters... snap a couple pics when you get out today.

Torch is not an ideal tool. For 1 it'll take forever because the water will pretty much refreeze pretty close by to where you melted it and 2 you could burn your house down (it's happened)

The softener pellets work pretty well and you can just yeet them to the roof edge standing on the ground.

Who says climate change is a bad thing? Until a couple weeks ago it was like we were living in KY or TN here! Loved it.

Rock salt will lose 80% of its effectiveness from 30deg to 20deg. Calcium Chloride works way down into the negatives.
Are you getting water inside or is the gutter pulling off the house? How old/what condition is your roof?

No water yet that I can tell. I was just trying to get ahead of it if I could. Roof was replaced in 2011 and is still in decent shape. I had the gutters replaced in 2021 when we moved in. Drip guard was installed then too(previously didn't have it). I'll see if I can find any salt. First place I called is out. Probably gonna be a similar tale. Our local gubbment ran out of road salt but were able to get resupplied. Gotta love a historic 30 year storm.

The softener salt is the same as rock salt just more purified. Should be easier to find for you.

If you want to have some fun grab a couple bottles of beet juice and coat the salt with it before you put it down. It lowers the melting point and helps it stick a little better when you lay it down.

Chainsaw. Yes, I’ve seen it done; I don’t recommend.

The other guys have pretty much answered the same I would. I’m in an HOA so they deal with that mess. They’ve had to fix water damage to everyone’s unit in the past when they didn’t.

I’d recommend attic floor and rafter insulation to help minimize it in the future. Also, if you reshingle the roof, put an ice/water shield on the lower 3-5 ft of the roof to prevent intrusion.

You ever cleared/roof raked your roof of snow up there? I've never done it, it's pretty amazing what a roof (that's in even decent shape) can handle.
It would have to get well over 3' deep for me to even start thinking about it.
What really helps with this ice buildup and Ice damming is a well insulated ceiling.
Look around when you get your first 1" dusting and you can see who is paying to melt the snow on their roofs

@BroHon I’ve only helped someone in the past clear a single story roof with a roof rake. Not something I’d want to do on a 2 story but I imagine they make poles long enough to deal with it.

If it were regularly 3’, I’d probably want to live in an A-frame house.
