Same. Best fogs offered for our trucks. SAE compliant too since you said you’ll be doing highways. Lightbars on interstates typically a no-go. Check your laws though.

also I ran an absolute turd (according to internet light rangers) auxbeam 30” bar in my bumper valance for 4 years on my old tundra (2014 DC) and other than some pitting in the finish it was flawless and turned night into daytime. $100 and some YouTube university (not sure what they are now). Had it in some of the saltiest brine roads and way below freezing temps and the thing just worked. I’d install another one if someone would do the labor for me and I could get an amber/white switchable version.

They are great. But they aren’t sae. They glare and aren’t suitable around traffic. Look at the Baja sae fogs and see the crisp cutoff. DD does not have this.

I have the DD fogs and love them. But I typically turn them off in the city, as I get flashed. And yes I’ve aimed them properly. They just glare.

I did the install. OEM lights are light in weight as no heat sinks, was able to use ABS for mounting to hitch crossbar. Used a tee in the 7 way trailer for power. Yes, they come on automatically.

Great discussion and valuable info. I appreciate that. After reading & researching light bar options, the best bang for the buck will be Diode Dynamics, probably Rigid (Rigid SAE 20" light bar) can be an economic option as well, then Baja-Design (S8) if looking for modern design along with build quality. Finally, Morimoto (2 banger) comes to top of the line, but choosing Morimoto opens a can of worms regarding the ability to mix and match, apply different light configurations into the same line, it also comes with hefty price tag for a light bar. This is just my own research and conclusion

Hi Oakman, I’m personally a huge fan of the BD lights. Yes they are expensive, but their build quality is top notch. I haven’t done a head count, but i must have over 40 BD lights on my various cars, motovan, dirtbikes, adventure bikes, street motos, and a little JD garden tractor. I’ve also installed another 13 BD lights on friend’s autos and motos. I live in the PacNW where we get lots of rain, fog, snow, and dust. I’ll also do road trips to Socal to do some desert riding and racing on dirtbikes. Very rarely do i install their amber colored lens on my BD lights. Most of the time i use their clear “wide cornering” lens or a clear “driving combo”. I think out of my 40 lights only 6 of them are amber. And just having an amber colored lens doesn’t make it so that you can x ray through the fog, you have to mount them low enough to get under the fog line. I still like their clear lenses best for my applications. What i do find peculiar is that in toyota truck owners in particular pretty much always install amber colored lights. Dunno why that is. I assume it’s just kinda latest craze type of thing?

No doubt whichever brand of LED you decide to buy, i’m sure you’ll be pleased with the results (even if you bought cheap fleabay leds).

With the DDs are you able to hook it into your highbeam switch- or does it have to be its own switch?

Id be looking into one of the behind the bumper guys...

The stealth bar only comes on with highbeams.
I have a 1794 with the premium LED headlights which are controlled via CANBUS, there is not a separate wire or relay driving them. The highbeam on is in data stream on the canbus which a CANM8 reads and outputs a 12V signal to control the lightbar. There are other threads with details.

The bottom Light bar behind the grill. Take a dremmel and cut the plastic out that is in front of it. I did that on my 2012 and the brightness difference is HUGE. I couldn't believe it.

I first mounted them like you and was very un impressed, so I removed it and put it in front and it was great, but looked stupid as shit. So I put it back behind the grill and sawed the plastic out that blocks a lot of the light. You will like it. If you have to replace that plastic piece down the road it is minor in size

Also iJDMtoy has a lot of stuff for the JDM brands, comes with the harnesses etc.

I installed similar cheap lights from ebay for backup on my soon to be gone Titan. Extra lighting for backup is a huge benefit especially with no camera and relying only on mirrors. And a major benefit in the rain and poor visibility. Nice thinking to move the front floods to the rear with the upgrade.
