I know some folks can be a tad sensitive on this but I can offer just this. Me and my buddy have the same tundra same leaf set up and same year. He went with kings I went with ads when I get in his truck and ride It’s like a whole different truck. It’s way way way ruffer snd stiff. I’m not knocking king I’m just saying

You’re correct, ride comfort is very subjective!

I’d add that any of the typical adjustable (meaning serviceable valve stacks) can be made to ride anywhere from “complete crap” to “butter smooth”. ADS, Fox, King, Icon, they’re all sent out with a baseline “tune” that’s close enough for the folks that decided that was the right ride. They may have nailed it for you, or you might have had something different in mind.

I run CB tie rod ends with the 3.0’s with no issues. Crazy how much of a difference they made. Do it!

That is super helpful information!! I have heard the oem valving on king can be stiff for some.

Very true, but can a digressive piston be valved/shimmed as soft on the initial stroke as a progressive or linear? Serious question...

What kind of difference do the tie rod ends make? My boots are starting to look crusty...

Good question, and I’m not sure! Curious if a flutter stack would be beneficial?

My assumption is that a linear or progressive is still your best bet though!

Any digressive piston can be tuned to become progressive, but no progressive piston can ever be tuned to become digressive.

The linearity of the piston is determined by the dome shape on the compression and rebound valve seat faces. A digressive face is concave meaning the outer ring of the face where the first valve shim sits if higher than the center of the face where the shaft passes through. That dishing is what allows you to create a digressive valve curve by applying preload to the ship stack and pushing the center of the stack down into that concave dish a tiny bit and forcing the first shim to be slightly curved at rest. Its pressing down against the face harder than a progressive piston that is flat all the way across and the only way to fake a strong slow speed resistance is to have too many same thickness shims at the face of the stack (or too thick of a first shim, depending on the manufacturers theory and execution of valve tuning).

All of the above is why we went with Icon, but got bypasses. We have digressive valving at the ride zone which is perfect for all the very small high speed inputs of a washboard or rocky bumpy road within the 0-5” of travel at ride height and is super comfy for that 90% of terrain, then it goes progressive when we go deep into the stoke with jumps, whoops or g outs.

    hey all,
for those of you who have self cleared or removed your wheel well liners.... What did you do to prevent too much dust, debris or other stuff from getting into your airbox?

Trying to decide between 37's. This will be my Summer set of wheels. Tied between BFG KM3's and Baja Boss AT's. Pavement princess for the most part. Opinions?

If you're mainly a pavement princess then the AT all the way. Mud tires are great in their element but on pavement I am not a fan at all

I'm running the MT version on a 17" wheel which is D load rated. Most of my buddies here locally run the AT which has been awesome.

Already posted a before and after in the "What have you done lately to your 2.5," so here is just a pic of my new 37x12.50x20s. I have a 6" BDS lift on and I plan on adding fender flares and spacers- I am getting too much rubbing for my liking.

Curious, has anyone noticed more Squeaking from the suspension after adding 37's?! Im assuming its not tire rub because that sounds rotational... Im now chasing down squeaks when going over larger bumps where the suspension articulates, I belive in the front. Could be the greaseable UCA's (Dirt King), maybe the eyes on the shocks? Ill probably throw some more lithium grease in the leafs in case its coming from the rear... thoughts?

My lower shock mounts squeak both sides in the front. Nothing to do with the 37s, they did it day one when I put on my suspension. During the winter when it is soaking wet all the time they are quiet and during the summer I just deal with it :notsure:
