I used to be like you. Now I have 3 kids who don't sleep through the night.

 

What is the need to set an alarm ???

Wakin up at 5-5:30 AM is a natural occurrence

 

I went through that stage and now on the other side of it. And you're right. I was not that ambitious when I didn't get a good nights sleep. Kiddos are 5 and 6 now and sleep through the night and in their beds most of the time.

 

DAMN! How do you keep everything warm and lines from freezing when this happens?

 

6:00: @ work
6:05: boot computer
6:10: feet on desk, surfing Tundras

 

Wednesday is my skip day for working out. Had freezing rain overnight, so hit snooze for nearly an hour and then started working from home. Reminds me of the Covid days…

This is a very abnormal occurrence for our area... Lasted 3 days, but had plenty of warning prior to the storm hitting.

The trees snapping and dropping from the extra weight created most of the issues w/power outages, etc.. Water lines and such got wrapped, and when power was lost for more than a couple of hours, they were drained to prevent frozen water lines from expanding and rupturing.

We have a gas stove that will function w/o electricity so that will keep the house warm enough during outages and then we just run generators periodically to keep the fridge and freezers cold, and to re-charge necessary electronics. Really doesn't take much power to keep 'em cold as long as your not breaching the doors constantly.

Our community is mostly fisherman and their families or seniors. So, watching over neighbors and helping households while the fishermen are out at sea were probably our largest issues logistically speaking.

 

What's a snooze button?

When my alarm goes off at 5am, I get up. If I wanted to get up at 510am, I would set my alarm for 510am.

 

I'm slow to rouse. Takes me time to get all cylinders firing.

 

Fair. The Woman is like that. It drives her nuts that I can wake up and be ready to go before she's barely pried her eyes open. I like to start peppering her with questions and plans for the day just to confuse her sleepy brain.

 

I wouldn't own it, but I can't hate it.

Mrs Punishment does not remember anything that happens while she's half asleep, especially if she goes back to sleep afterwards. She called me one morning when we were dating to make a plan for the day then fell back asleep. When I got to her house to do whatever we were doing, she was acting all weird because she thought I hadn't talked to her about our plan for the day and was just doing whatever I wanted.

 

I only have 1 kid and she sleeps until 0830 most days.

I make my own breakfast for a reason.

 

I hope you use this to your advantage.

 

These 2 memes sum up how I feel about the morning. I have a routine and everything is auto pilot and muscle memory when I wake up. Including the drive to work.

 

Also, my wife is the kind of person that, if it's 10pm and you're sleeping, she'll walk into the room yakkin on the phone, opening/closing doors, making a ruckus like it's 3 in the afternoon.
She doesn't have to be up until 7. So, I set my alarm for 5am and hit snooze 3 times.
It bothers her that I set it so early and wake her up.
Does it? Does that bother you?

 

When I was a kid, my dad would dump me out of my bed at 0700 on a Saturday. "We're burnin' daylight!!"

I hate people and require my morning coffee or tea in order to interact with them politely. I do enjoy mornings though. It's quiet, cool, the world is still asleep and I can have some peace.

I'm not much of a night owl though. 11pm is a wild night for me.

 

How much snow you getting @NWPirate ? We are at 6" or so and is still coming down pretty good.

If left on my own, my normal sleeping hours would be about 2AM to 10AM.

 

Exactly the same here. Natural clock wants me sleeping from 2am- 10 am. I was like that my whole life. Then it shifted in the last couple years. Not sure why or how. Now it's more like 10pm- 6am.
