Was at the store in SWFL with LOTS of rain. Most I've seen since I've lived here. Was making my way out of the flooded parking lot, when my truck bogged down. It was only over the tops of my tires, not the hood. Took it nice and slow, with little to no wake. I do have to replace my o2 sensor. Does that have anything to do with it? LMK. Anything helps.

    Is it not running?

If it's not firing off, you may've hydrolocked it. Did you look under the air filter for evidence of water in the housing?

O2 sensors will ultimately go bad. You throwing a code?

My 1st thought. The inlet for the lower clam shell is right behind the right side marker portion of the headlamp assembly inside the inner fender. If water was that high, this could have taken in water.

Yup. We've had dudes (and a dudette) on here waterlock their engine from similar depths.

Yes I am throwing a code. P0418 I think? Its for the bank one sensor. But It runs fine. Every now and then it will stall but I can start it back up no problem. Haven't inspected the air filter yet as it's still pouring outside. Afterward it ran a little rough but smoothed out after about a mile.

I will definitely check that out. @shifty` and anyone else who can answer, would a snorkel make any changes in this?

The way I read it, I was under the impression that it stopped running. In your case, more than likely the sensor harness got wet and fouled the sensor causing the ECM to screw with your fuel and air trims. Replacing the sensor should help resolve this.

Over the top of the tires is pretty darn deep...somewheres around 30-ish”. i could easily see water creeping past the plastic fender liner and into the air intake. If that’s the case, dollars to doughnuts you got a hydrolocked engine. So did the engine even turn over when you tried to start it?

And a pro tip for others driving through deep water, drive through it going backwards. The rear of the vehicle will push the water wake away from the front of said vehicle. It might lower the water height by as much as 12”. I’ve used that technique many a times here in the pacNw during deep flooding.

Snorkel, if fitted properly, will help with water intrusion

Sounds like you got lucky enough to only draw in a little water and not enough to lock it up. Clean out your air filter if there’s water in there now.

That’s the one thing I liked about carbuerated engines, the air filter is on top so you can float across the puddle with momentum. Don’t ask me how I know that. :anonymous:

I'll run you through so were on the same page. Got into puddle, stalled out. Truck would start briefly, and bog out again. Finally got it started and gunned it as I wasn't sure if I was taking water in (probably not the smartest decision). After that, it now longer bogged down, just ran a little rough for about the next 10 minutes.

Let us know what the clam shell looks like inside for sure. In future, if you choose to do a snorkel, @whodatschrome and I both run one on our trucks. His write up can be found searching the 1st gen build thread page and mine can be found in the 1st gen forum thread.

ah, ok. So it still runs. Most likely the engine is fine then. Besides the air filter, check to make sure the MAF sensor is dry as well.
