Hello Everyone! First post here so be gentle.

I am trying to use the rear bolts of the front drivers seat of my tundra to mount a bracket. The bracket will be used to secure a platform designed to allow flat placement of my pup’s travel crate.

Early stages but ran into my first issue. I am able to loosen the bolt for the seat (it is a T50 bolt) but when I try to remove it seems to have a stop on it that prevents it from coming out. It is definitely loosened all the way as it is spinning freely and can come partially out.

Has anyone experienced this? What was your solution?

    Sounds like a captive fastener.

Huh, never even heard of that. Guessing there are no easy/non-destructive ways to remove them?

They use them on the cowling on my outboard. If memory serves, I can back them out out the "capture" by pulling them up to the stop and then unscrew them. Not sure if that's what you have but might be worth a try.

If you're trying to get a bracket sandwiched between the seat rail and the floor, you'll likely have to loosen all the seat bolts to give the rails enough space to lift high enough for the captive bolt to clear the threads in the floor.

Lift up on the rear of the seat a tad. I had to do that just the other day. Was having the same issue.
Replace that bolt too, its shot.

Why do you say replace the bolt? Seemed like it was still going in fine.

I mean I was thinking that I would likely have to get a new bolt because didn’t know if the threads would engage with the bracket thickness but I didn’t think the bolt itself was shot?

Not putting the bracket beneath the rail just in-between the bolt and rail so I am hoping I don’t have to remove the entire seat assembly.

The head of that bolt appears to be wearing out.
