So, if I had this to do over again, I would NOT go through Midlands Toyota. Their customer service is atrocious. I don't mind paying a little more for better service, so I'm not that far away from cancelling this order and getting it through someone else. Their phone robot gives me the runaround, their parts department won't answer the phone or return calls, when I do get a human, I get the "not my problem" answer. And, when I placed the order, I was told I'd have it by the 17th. That was three days ago and according to what little information I can extract from their website, the order hasn't even shipped yet.

I wanna see if this is possible! I wanted the power boards but was unable to have them added to my truck even though I asked before it was built.

@smileytn1 I looked at the Rhino ones but the cheese ball Rube Goldberg magnet setup was a deal killer for me. OEM or nothing.

    Watching this thread with interest!

I was starting to think I wouldn't live this long, but my parts are finally on the way to me. Progress...slow, but progress.

yeah the wife and myself are not fans of the blueprint, way to dark like our 2006 tacoma in midnight blue (i think). we loved the speedway blue and blazing blue and are hoping they come back to the tundra so we can swap it out and drop the avs/hud and auto boards next time around. not to fond of the avs (for our use, no hauling/towing 99% of the time) or the hud myself since i wear polarized clip ons so i cant see the hud most of the time anyway. auto boards are nice, but prefer the look and not having to deal with the snow/slush freezing them into place during our winters that static boards can afford.

amp research power running boards, method wheels 18x9, toyota dashcam, TRD skid plate, vent shades, bed step, toyota swing storage boxes rear, voodoo blue tundra inserts front and tailgate; Future mods: TRD PRO fender flares, bumper cover, ditch lights, TRD pro Grill, and tail gate lights, light bar upper and lower, Covert front bumper, retrax cover
Bamwholesale.com is best prices I have found for factory Toyota parts. I have everything but the light tailgate came and lights to convert my platinum to a trd pro, lol.

I don’t know for sure but heard the factory power steps were amp but doesn’t look like ir from pics I’ve seen. I just returned some amp steps as when I was installing step 9 ask you to drill two holes in bottom of your truck floor pan and bolt some little bracket on each side, not so easy with hybrid. When I called the. To ask about the bracket Amp told me they don’t have any steps compatible with hybrid tundras like my platinum. So after asking why a hundred times and talking to 3 techs their final resolution was transfer me to real truck they said same thing and tried to sell me go rhino E1 for 250 over the amps? I was like no so I returned the amp ones, be warned realtrucks return policy stinks the have to receive and inspect before refunding you you money still waiting on my $2100.

in mean time called go rhino and confirmed E1 s work and no drilling or taping into and wires. I found go rhino has 20% off $1499+ $10 shipping. However modern accessories also part of modern Toyota group said they could get them overnight. Talked them down to $1400 with tax $1489 picked them up this morning, 95% installed working on drivers side sensors and kill switch.

interesting thing sorry long winded. I popped off the switch panel and the blank where factory power step switch goes has a plug in it with wires?????? Not only that but of the three other blanks there 2 had plugs and wires in the blanks???? WTH?

I was going to put in some ditch light, and light bar switches but now afraid to mess with them. I checked under passenger seat no module and no wires under truck as I been under it last 2.5 hrs routing and tiding up the E1 install. Should have them live tomorrow.

I would go factory or E1s, dual motor unlike Amps for more money

    Progress update on my situation...

Despite the fact that I placed my order with Midlands Toyota on the 10th, 2 of the 3 boxes for my shipment got to me on Friday, and the third yesterday. My drop-off for install appointment is Thursday at 8:15am. I'm excited!

I've been sick the last few days, and haven't felt much like sitting at the computer. Here's the ending to my story...and it's not a happy one.

I took the truck to the dealer with all my parts. A few hours later I got the call. They said that their techs had been on the phone with the Toyota engineers, and this isn't possible with my truck. There isn't the pre-wiring there that's needed. They said they needed a new main wiring harness for the truck, which would run me something like $3k, and then another $2k to put it in. So, obviously, I'm not going to spend ~$7k to put running boards on my truck.

What really hurts is that I am taking a loss somewhere around $250, because of the shipping of the parts to me and then I have to send them back.

I like that the dealer tried, but I wish they would have figured out what they needed before they told me whether or not they could do it.

Sorry to hear that @Big Sexy... You spent a lot of time and money.

I just traded in my 2014 Tundra 1794 on a new 2024 Tundra TRDPro. I can not stand the fixed running boards that came with the truck. I am getting a price for the power ones from the dealer as we speak.

The questions I have are can the OEM ones adjust to different heights and would you switch, why or why not?

I'm going out on a limb here but I doubt your truck is prewired for them either. I believe factory ones have up, down , or off. Looks like I should be getting with it on my harness. I looked at a 2024 1794 yesterday while getting my oil changed . Factory boards are sooo quiet. At least when new. My amps were never as quiet.

Thanks for the reply. I know the dodge ones can adjust height also. Hope to have my price today and I will repost.

If @ODBaxter is still around, do you happen to recall where the harness/connectors are that you disconnected the power steps from? Seems no one has actually gone searching for the harness to see if it's available in any trims/configurations that didn't come from the factory with the steps. I'd be interested in seeing where it might hook up and poking around on my truck to see if there's any evidence of a place to connect the OEM boards.

I think someone did look for the harnesses and there were none. Big Sexy has a platinum so if any would have it, I'd say it'd be his.

    Thanks @ryanwgregg for the information.

I am still awaiting my price from the dealer for my 3 week old 2024 TRDpro and I will post updates here. However, before I get the price, I was wondering if my truck may already be presided for the boards or has the proper harness already. I can see this dealer charging me extra for it even if it is already there.

I got the price as expected. The dealer stated the rails are at $1,800 and 4 hours of labor. They have the rails but can not install them until released next month after approval for the 2024. There is a switch location on the left of the steering wheel. Total right at $2,500 and covered under warranty.

On a side note, I had a 2007 limited and just traded my 2014 1794. I was looking at the capstone, but decided against the 1794 as I wanted a new interior after 10 yrs. I may look into the 1794 special that is suppose to be coming out with the special leather. We will see. The TRDPro is a complete change for me and is fun.

They said it was not a problem and 4 hours of work. They said they put the switch in an open spot. I will see soon I guess.

Trd pro is not pre wired, I believe none of the offroad packages are wired for the steps. I’m going with go rhino e1’s

How much are the rhino installed if you don’t mind me asking? Where is the switch? Are they tied into the truck sensors for the doors or separate ones? Truck warranty issues?

    Installed they are about 2500-2600.
They are stand alone. They use small mag sensors installed at each door.

I think you're gonna be disappointed when they get into it and realize they don't have wiring for them. Always hope that the 24's may have it.
