A family friend just backed into my truck. It’s a 2020 tundra. I was in his car when he backed into my truck. It was a pretty hard collision but it didn’t seem to do too much damage, just cracked the grill. Collision seemed hard though. Truck seems to run and drive fine still. Question is do you think this could affect the lifespan of the truck. It might sound paranoid but I worry that it bent something or jarred something and it might cause premature wear. Or is it the type of thing where if I don’t notice any damage I’m good?

When you buy a new grill and try to fit it, you will find out if anything is bent.

Right, shouldn’t cause any engine or tranny issues though right? I know it’s a silly question

The truck have 8-10 inches between the grill and ac condenser, and your truck don’t have tranny cooler, as long as nothing leaking, it should be fine.

Bring it into a reputable body shop and have them check it!

It’s not a silly question if you don’t know, and there’s damn sure no shame in asking and seeking knowledge.
It’s near impossible to answer with any certainty without seeing the vehicle. Based on the brief details shared, it would be safe to assume no negative mechanical impacts would be noticed. As has been mentioned, get it to a reputable collision repair specialist and let them ensure they restore it to pre-loss condition for you. They will be able to identify any damage incurred as a result of the loss, and put together a repair plan to get you back into shape.

Update, truck still seems good mechanically been driving it for a week now. I know I wasn’t very specific about the extent of the damage, but it was very minimal. Bent my light bar and cracked plastic chrome trim on grill. Anyway I know we could start a whole separate thread debating this topic but I decided if I was going to replace the bumper mounted light bar I might as well go for one of the rough country steel front bumpers with the built in light bar. What are your guys thoughts on those steel bumpers? My buddy has one on his ram and he claims he slammed a deer and it caused no damage. I’ve also heard people say it’s worse since factory bumpers are designed to crumple. Either way I already ordered the bumper and will be installing it this weekend. Any thoughts?
