Unfortunately no, had to give up the company car. Testing was done. However, I regularly drive an X, S, and Y for work and an occasional CT.:anonymous:

Oddly, never driven or been in a 3. Even been in a semi.

White used to be a “standard” color for many years for them

Yeah, but now it's a thousand dollar upcharge for pearl white or deep blue metallic, with black costing $1500 and red $2000. I'm sorry, but when every other automaker offers multiple colors at no additional charge with only one or two having charges between $400-$600 I can't help feeling that Tesla is gouging. Hell, look at the absurd wrap prices they are going with.

I live down a shitty, muddy road. I want my basic color to be one that at least kinda hides grime.

Different colors of shades actually do fluctuate by manufacturer (at least Toyota). I learned that that few years back from the sales guy and he was right. It was under $1k, but it did change even if it looked similar

Not sure what you are saying. Can you clarify?

Is it that the upcharge for premium colors varies? That's a given. Or do you mean that the "same" color from different manufacturers can have different prices? Again, that's fine. It's the fact that you only have one color choice with Tesla if you don't have an extra grand or more to be choosey with the color. Top it off with the fact that none of their colors are anything beyond what most consider standard colors, and it just feels like a dirty grope session.

Meaning if MGM (Toyota) charges $345 but there’s an identical color by Toyota for $123 on the same vehicle make/model/trim with a different name…

I've not seen that before. There's the vehicle, usually with several color options at no added charge, and then an optional color or two with a fee.

Years back I was walking the lot with my sales buddy. He pointed it out on several vehicles with the same trim.

AND Tesla paint is horrible. I’ve never experienced softer paint on any vehicle I’ve owned. You look at it wrong and it swirls. Not to mention, they cut corners painting the back sides of panels and you can see primer when you open some doors/lids. One of my biggest gripes with my $70K jelly bean.

interesting headline came across this morning
Hertz selling 20000 from US fleet and replacing with ICE vehicles.
Collision costs are high for fender benders, and continued price reduction on new Tesla vehicles means losing more insurance money when vehicles are written off. Among the reasons noted.

Whatever this forum told me to do
I never understood the nature of making an EV a rental.

it puts modo stress on the renter to figure out charging.

EV's are simply not good rental units. they have a different user structure.

    Charging is a thing.

I don't rent cars much (only on vacation)...and I want the natural experience of looking for a gas station.

and....how does charging work? how does Tesla charge the driver at a Tesla station? or does it flow thru Hertz?

Hertz is scaling back its EV ambitions because its Teslas keep getting damaged
    /
Also, Uber drivers, who are using about half of Hertz’s Teslas, are damaging their cars more than Hertz expected.
