2002 Trunda, 225K miles. my transmission fluid is going down. I don't see any visible leaks, and the fluid is clean, no water. old vehicles had a vacuum modulator that would go bad and suck fluid. do they still use them?

check that your coolant isn't being contaminated and increasing in volume. The transmission oil cooler (lower two barbs on bottom tank of radiator) is know to fail and leak into the cooling system.

Toyota correct coolant is either pink or red
Toyota ATF for 2000-2002 is Dexron-III which is red
When oils mix with water it forms an emulsion which looks like milkshake

When you say the trans fluid level is going down, I just need to sanity check here for a sec. The levels are quite different at operating temp vs. cold. When you're measuring, can you just confirm it's always been measured while hot, or always while cold?
