This I agree, the 3rd gen rides and handles nice. Fully redesigned suspensions and all the bits. I had a 3rd gen loaner for 1 week while my 2nd gen was in the body shop and I will say that it does rides and handles very nice. I give you that.

ABSOLUTE rubbish. Find me a brand new 3rd gen with the listed specs and I will buy it on the spot for 42K. C'mon with the nonsense mate.

At brand new I'd agree that's a unicorn. Granted the market was different back in 22 but back then there was 0 chance you're paying less than $54-56k (not including dealer/delivery fees) minimum for a 4x4 on an SR5.

Even a brand new 3rd gen SR can't be had for 42K, no way.

I have no idea, just saying what he had, also has a double cab I think so keep that in mind.

I don't really care I bought a platinum in 2016 and bought a platinum in 2023, more money, yes, worth it, yes.

    it does everything better

I had to leap frog past the 2.5 gen because my big brother has that. I buy a Taco, then he buys a Tundra in the same color! Whaaat the hell!!! Just keeping up is not an option. New Tundra is MGM with air bags and tow mirrors … bro, your move lol !!! He hasn’t seen it yet so I can still send him a fake pic of a pro Lunar Rock and see what happens.

His was $42 new back in 22 but now they’re $45 new

You could probably get it for $42 if you haggle and shop around. But with tax season approaching, discounts usually don’t happen that time of the year. End of the year is the best time to buy

@TJB I had mine repaired about 6 months ago. I had the whistling at the driver door. I used painters tape and isolated different areas on road trips untill I nailed it down to the window seal. I took photos of the tape in different location and showed to the dealer. They didn't even test drive it; they just ordered the part and had me come in a week or so later to have it installed. It took care of the problem completely, and there were no hassles getting them to replace it.

I waited for the 3rd gen and love everything about the truck. No complaints at all. Powerful and well thought out. Like everyone else am somewhat worried about the main bearings and oil starvation. So I'm changing my oil every 3500........filter ever other change @ 7 K. Love the truck ! Kid

Loved my 2.5 gen and glad you found one at a great price ! They are great trucks. The 3rd gen (pro) is by far more enjoyable to drive and the lighting is even better than the upgraded leds in my 2016 Platinum. The new price was hard to swallow but knowing it's fully covered (ext oem warranty) for a decade and not paying over MSRP helps. Add now that people are getting under MSRP for most models is good news for buyers too.

Very much agree with this statement and probably that's a strong positive. I really loved the way it drove as I had a rental for one week. As a matter of fact I drove it like a stole it in West Texas, mostly 110 at all times :) Money wasn't an issue for me and perhaps I could drop 75K on a truck but I didn't think it was worth it. To me is the design that I can't get over regardless of some of the positives. Then who knows the V6 turbo life, all the QA issues in new trucks and all that.

If it takes about 10 min to decide to buy a new truck, you have substantially more money than most people on his forum.

The point was deciding between the two which was clearly spelled out. It's a quick decision.

You're not wrong. The choice isn't of the new truck is better, but is it $20 or $30k better than the truck you already have. If you don't see the increased value, move on.

If your noise is from the AC vents then it may be some other issue.

Many here have noise from the driver side mirror which is actually the window runner seal. No updates part for the seal... Whether replacement seal fixes issue or not depends on particular replacement seal quality and technician who's doing the replacement. I had my window seal replaced 4 times to get it to acceptable noise level

If this country continues on it's current course V8 engines in 1/2 ton trucks will be a thing of the past. At some point we're all going to be driving turbo trucks and cars will smaller displacements. Sucks but it's inevitable.

    Lots of stuff!
I’ve had my Gen 3 for 18 months and it is starting to grow on me.

It has tons of power but it is a bit thirsty. I was hoping for comparable mileage to my trade in truck.

I have had a V8 F150 and a Ram 1500 Hemi before. The Tundra has more get up and go.

The biggest concern for me is the engine failures. I really hope that Toyota will step up and do something proactive about this.

Maybe the next gen will have a different engine like back to back TTV4’s :) One shuts off when cruising!

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
For me I’ve owned all generations of the Tundra. Started 23 years ago.
A 2000 Tundra ordered in 1999. Put 150,000 miles on her and then purchased a 2008 Tundra also put 120,000 miles on her and went to a 2017 put 85,000 on her because I was offered 30 grand before I put a 100,000 miles on her so I waited as long as I could before putting a deposit in June 2022 for the new 2022 Tundra which I picked up in August of 2022.
Since I can honestly say by far this 2022 Tundra is the best one yet. Never a dull moment, the engine and transmission are awesome super smooth shifts and top notch power. Handles perfectly and the amenities are many. I should state that the previous Tundras were all SR5’s with all having the TRD package. My 22 is a Limited TRD package.
One thing I also buy is the Toyota Platinum warranty which also helps. The warranty coverage surpasses most. The booklet is thick with what all it covers.
Plus I keep coming back to Toyota due to how they take care of the customer.
This is a small glimpse of my Toyota Tundra journey.

I value no car note- however that's achieved. Electronics and R&D into the newer vehicles have priced out many consumers, including myself. I'm 33 and not in a point in my life where I can comfortably have a $65-70k vehicle, nor do I want to. Owe 23k on my 2021 and my wife's 2018 Malibu is paid off, but she'll need to upgrade in a few years so we'll need to prepare for that. 2 kids can be a little cramped in a mid-size sedan.

Edit: OP, enjoy your truck buying experience and good luck on your decision.
Thanks for sharing, enjoyed reading your history with Toyota.

All the positive comments confirm I made the right decision. Can't wait for mine to arrive soon. Our first Toyota in over 50 years of vehicles and will be a nice upgrade from my '09 Titan which has been very reliable.

I never buy the extended warranty on anything. It’s like self insuring, the money you save off every extended will pay for that odd repair.

in saying that, 12 months after I purchased my 3rd Gen…..I bought the extended. Just didn’t have that confidence in JDM I usually do

The industry move to 60k powertrain warranties almost mandates you have to. It is a cost transference of the warranty to the consumer for sure. Gone are the days when a new tranny is $4k and a new engine is $10k. The cost of the warranty is equal to a single turbo.

I love my 2021, I don't see any value in trading it off for another truck.

I’ve had two Tundra’s. A 2011 TRD 4x4 crewmax and a 2024 TRD 4x4 Crewmax and I loved the 2011 but the 3rd gen is light years ahead of the 2011. I’ve owned Ford F150’s and F250’s gas and diesel and my new Tundra is hands down my favorite all around truck.
