Does anyone know if there is a company that makes under seat storage for the front passanger seat? I have found one for a Jeep....but NOTHING for the Tundra.

Thus is the one I found for the Jeepe2264cc1662af29c108e4e6cb4d4c6ca--tundra-truck-accessories-f-accessories.jpg
This would be awesome to have in my truck.

I was thinking about manufacturing something like this for the drivers seat. I have the amp under the passengers seat. Is there a big market for this? How much would everyone pay? Would you still buy it if it was manufactured in China? What all features would you want?

Not sure how big the market is/would be. The one I posted is $65 for the Jeep....it uses the bolts from the seat.

I think using the seat bolts PLUS the option to bolt it from the inside of the container through the floor would be a good idea (so someone couldn't just remove the seat and grab the box out). I personally want it to store my weapon in so it needs to be durable and needs to lock with a high quality lock. China? I personally would pay a higher price for something American made that is good quality.

There is always a market for useful mods under $100!

I'm sure plenty would buy them just for an extra place to store things. I would.

Unfortunately I don't have any contacts in USA manufacturing.

$65 for a keyed lock would be easy to meet if the volume is there. Bolting it down with the seat bolts is the easiest, adding internal bolts through the floor wouldn't be too hard, but might make installation much more difficult and I don't know many people who would want to drill a hole through the floor of their truck. I could develop a cover that went over the seat bolts, making them more difficult to remove. At the end of the day, if someone wants in the box, it doesn't take long with a battery powered grinder or saws all.

I too was looking for a good option to store my firearm. I could develop it with a mount that would allow you to use an aftermarket holster to hold the firearm in place so it isn't flying around while driving. I've also considered a automatic unlocking system that unlocks when you are in the vehicle to allow quick access as well as automatically locking when you leave the vehicle.

I've been thinking about this idea for the last year, when I bought my Tundra. It hasn't been a priority though as I don't know what the demand would be and truck accessories are not under my current portfolio, so I don't have contacts to take it to retail and sell in the volumes needed to develop this type of item. I'll keep an eye on this thread and if it has a lot of positive responses, I could put together a solution rather quickly as I already know a factory that is interested in making it.

Of course if someone in the USA offered something, it would save me a lot of time trying to develop one myself. My business is developing things in China, but I'd rather support USA product as well for my personal purchases.

    Tuffy makes one.

Btw, the image of someone breaking into your truck, having the right set of wrenches and removing your seat made me chuckle... :D

Yeah I don't think you have to worry about someone removing your seats to get whatever they think is in the little box underneath! Most scumbags that would break into a vehicle aren't going to have the necessary tools or even the time to mess with something like that. They will grab what they can find that is loose and get out.

Something that locked, mounted fairly easily, and had enough room for a concealed carry pistol at the least should be a big hit with Tundra owners.

That Tuffy one doesn't look as durable as the one I found for the Jeep. Maybe it's just me. I would like one that was actually designed for the Tundra too....better fit.

I've seen a vehicle stripped down quick when I worked a border mission....don't laugh at me lol:p:D

I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing with you.

The border is a totally different story. I've seen some crazy stuff in Tijuana and whenever work sends me to Central/South America, I'm always picked up and escorted.

I've seen these, but I don't want to lose my whole middle console to a locking compartment. Part of my reasoning for under the seat is to ensure weapons safety with my kids. My oldest keeps some of her things in the middle console and I refuse to keep my guns in there due to that. With a lock box under the seat I wouldn't have to worry about her getting into it.

Only problem with under passenger seat lockable storage compartment is that it would be difficult to get to if you needed something quickly. I could see something possibly under drivers seat...

What are the dimensions? I no longer have easy access to get those measurements. Might be able to find a generic metal drawer with quality components.

I’m pretty sure nobody would use something like this for quick access. I wouldn’t even use the console for quick access.

That’s my point. 5 seconds is a long time. Average draw, fire, hit target is under 3 seconds.

Absolutely...if it was not for my kids having access to my truck I wouldn’t have the safe. But I will take the additional 2 seconds for the safety of my kids.

So you leave a gun in your truck then?

Kudos for trying to be safety conscious. Your more likely to have a kid incident that a criminal one.
