We bought Community on DVD in case it’s not available one day. One of the last offensively funny shows.

I really need a home where I don’t have to wait around for the plow driver to move my truck. I feel like this guy won’t be by until 10 pm when I’m ready to goto bed.

Can’t park in the street since I found out my town still has a snow emergency status. Well, I could but I don’t want to risk a ticket or a tow. The local cops are right down the street eating their donuts at DD.

It’s good money if you have a capable truck. Plenty of independent contractors doing the side roads here.

That's when we go outdoors in 0F - 30F weather & start moving water around with a shovel. You think we'd learn, but nope.

Can I take a moment to talk plow drivers...
My usual 2 hours to move water around to an ADD pleasing placement took 2.5 hours today, further proof I turned old in 2023.
But if you're not from snow country - plow drivers (like state roads/highways, real plows) have a bad attitude. They drive slow & they throw sand from the backs of their trucks. Nobody wants to be behind a plow, so everyone makes aggressive & stupid passes of plows & the drivers resent it. So when a plow driver is down to community plowing, they do their best to F with you at your house.
While I was shoveling the white water plow guy goes past & notices me shoveling. Bastard went past my driveway 4 times in 30 minutes. Just F'ing with Joe Public.
Jokes on him - I've learned, I don't shovel out the last 6' until they're done & gone.

For those that don't know, each time they plow past your driveway, they dump wet, heavy, dirty, way salty 'snow' on your driveway apron. Pretty much gtd to be at least 2" & could be 2' of the stuff. so you clean, they dump, you clean, they dump more, making the street a little wider with each pass. you can pretty much gtd each shovel full of the slop they toss into your driveway is going to weigh about 25# each shovel full. It's heavy nasty stuff.
You might see them pass your driveway 2x/hour, so this guy passing 4x in 30 minutes for 2"-3" of snow was just Jack Assery. He came at me because I was the first person out cleaning.

I wonder if Branson, MO gets snow - they don't tax social security, 401k, nor pension income. These things are starting to matter.

Alright little update from yesterday on the FJ window switch

Switch panel came off easy pretty sure someone was in here before based off the glue on the plastic tab hahaha. Wires looked good and contacts are clean, going to give a new switch a try.

my lady's uncle used to plow in PA. one morning he stopped by on his way home from plowing & we noticed the back of his truck was smashed with the bumper pushed down. 'unc - what happened?' He was plowing, put it in reverse, fell asleep & woke up after backing into a dumpster at the other end of the parking lot. It's hard work plowing.

It's good having 4wd when your town does a crappy job of plowing the streets. For the 5% of the time I use it, it's really needed.

I'd rather be in any FWD vehicle than a RWD pickup when it snows. I'm still shocked by how capable that Toyota Yaris was in Finland, with studded snow tires. If I lived where it snows a lot I would have a set.

Are those the retractable stud tires Nokian produces? I've always wanted to try those. Must be cool driving on ice knowing you won't spin out.

They’re cool Kei vans; quite a few Kei trucks and vans around BC, seen a few of those with a ‘VW conversion’, this is just a random photo from the internet of one:
