Hell no. That’s way too many washes! I try to wash it every other weekend or so depending on weather. Usually it’s just dusty :anonymous:

Speaking of detailing, the number of dirty EVs is unbelievable. It's not hard to stand out from the other EVs by just keeping your car and windows clean. Not sure how it is in other parts like TX, CO and WA but in SoCal 9/10 of them are caked in dirt.

I will say I hate the Tesla implementation of wiper fluid sprayers being on the wipers. It’s also impossible to get a clean, wiped windshield. Fluid continuously rolls up the glass after the wipers stop, and further swipes usually make it worse.

Also several adjustments made to the range estimates. The LR MY dropped 20 miles.

The Porsche isn't on the average Tesla shopper's radar. Most aren't pursuing the performance, though are happy about it, but that's a skewed statement.

Many ICE vehicles are at or around the same range as a Tesla. The difference is that ICE drivers know that anywhere they choose to drive they'll be able to fuel within the limits of their range with speed and ease.

EVs take bigger hits from temp variations, elevation, and wind than an ICE. Thus, it is true that EVs ranges are less predictable as a result.

It's not an attack on EVs, or fear of change, or whatever other label gets tossed around when people get defensive about their purchases. It's just part of the info everyone has to consider when making their decisions.

<I may come across as combative, but I'm not. just have civilized discussion>
<and my views are tainted with a Plaid stain, I have very little experience with M3 or MY>

True on the more popular Tesla's (MY & M3). As for Plaid, I reckon those are cross shopped by quite a bit.

I'll even move into a self-deprecating tone...Plaid shoppers are a weird breed. they want the fastest, funnest out there. and when you shop for performance, there is only one car that pops to the top EVERY time.

Range? naw. performance shoppers probably don't give a hoot about range. yet, the media makes a hoo-ha over it.

valid point on re-fueling - I gauge watch every time I drive it. even tho we've never had an issue.

and since most folks dwell in the urban/suburban zones. Range, generally speaking, is a red-herring.

The elephant in the room is the performance and tech of Tesla products. in all aspects. yet - all that gets talks about is software updates. the media coverage is quite weird.

I can see how "our" reaction can be seen as defensive. because the issues that are thrown at Tesla's are generally urban legend. or hyper-inflated media speak. and we have to lay out real world data & such.

and the Ford Lightning getting EV Truck of the year? Really? it's an absolute POS. we all know that. yet the media has to kiss the big 3 ass again.

as for environmental factors affecting range...really? because I know all those same factors affect my Tundra in a remarkable way. do EV's perform noticeably worse? hard to say - media sure paints it that way.

I guess a lot can be said of the difference between Tesla & EVERY other EV. they don't compare for the foreseeable future...maybe in a few years. Yet EV's get all mashed up together. not really fair.

Would I buy another EV? maybe.

If the CT was more "normal" looking? yes.

if the Plaid+ came out? yes.

A turbo s owner doesn’t care about range, plus doesn’t have to given they can refuel anywhere in just a few minutes.

Yes, a turbo s is a hair slower than a plaid for acceleration. I’ve driven both. The turbo s is the drivers car. Not trying to rain on your plaid parade, but there’s really no comparison. A perfect example of outright performance is that the plaid with the track pack is still slower than a turbo s around the Nurburgring.

Don’t get me wrong, the plaid is still one hell of a car, and costs $100,000 less than a turbo s. Turbo s buyers aren’t concerned with the cost. They want the experience, and Porsche wins in that realm for now.

Whatever this forum told me to do
for the record, I shopped a Turbo S.

Nobody drives the 'ring. that's another red herring.

we drive stop light to stop light. and to Walmart. and to in & out burger.

The 911 is anything but comfortable.
"driver's car" I love that. not quite sure what that means in America.
See, I'm a driver that chose not to buy a Porshe. Does that make me less a "driver". nope. in my mind. I'm the much smarter, better driver. see how that works? it's just an opinion. can't argue it.

back to range - I agree "esoteric drivers" don't care about range. I'll concede that point.
They just want to pose with a large price tag, hyper looking auto. I guess I do to. I just happened to chose the quickest one.

my point in the above post was that we always talk about range of the top performing EV sedan, yet look past that on ICE cars.

I get why. I'm not being obtuse.

I enjoy all autos. proof being my '34 Ford Fuel Belcher. talk about range...I bet it has a 50 mile range!

I just get balled up when media tries to squash a free market product.

I’ve spent a fair bit of time in a turbo s. It was comfortable *for me*. GT3 touring, on the other hand, not comfortable.

I don’t think we inherently disagree, otherwise. It’s easy to look past range on ice cars because it’s mostly irrelevant. The refueling infrastructure is in place.

If you want to do drag races from light to light, and 0-60 is the only thing that matters to you, then you made the right choice. :D

    full disclosure:
If the fine humans at Porsche North Houston were not such epically pretentious fart nozzles, I would probably be in a 911.
the 911 Turbo S is the best looking ride out there.

Tesla jumped thru hoops to get me into our car. they made it fun. which matters a lot.

and.....other than drag races light to light & 0-60, what else is there in America? Nothing. Therein, lies the rub.

There’s a lot of beautiful, twisty roads in the US. You may or may not have to exceed the speed limit a bit to really enjoy them, though. :)

I’m curious what standard changes for testing to drop almost 6%. Checked some other manufacturers and none of theirs have dropped (or they haven’t changed)

By that logic I can state that most people don't drag race, so the Tesla being faster than the Porsche is a red herring.

You can't just dismiss the data when it's not prominent or everyman applicable. It's still a fact.

    <incorrect buzzer sound>

I drag race every chance I get in the MS. albeit, that's not an everyday occurrence. so does every other sports car.

but EVERY stop light is a potential drag race when you are in the quickest car.

    safety is always first.

and the MS Plaid is demonstrably quicker than every 911 - therefore that fact is not a red herring.

and the 'ring is easily dismissed. as NOBODY drives it. only folks on that continent. we are physically, among other things, prohibited from driving the 'ring.

My buddy has the Carrera turbo S ($220k?) and the MSP. He drives the Plaid more than the Porsche but certainly takes it out. The Porsche is def a Sunday car. The Tesla can be an everyday car. Been in both, several times. Two diff animals for sure. Can’t rip around the Porsche and not be noticed…you can in the Teslas
