Heres a shot of the inside weld before the oil separator/strainer covers it, hopefully to never be seen again.

Heres a shot of a casting defect on the flange. FIPG will fill that in no problem-o.

    Ready to install

Belongs to a buddy of mine that moved to Alaska. The deal was that I would store it for free/ buy it off him at some point. That was five or six years ago and since then I've kinda backed off the two wheel pursuits. I cant even ride a bicycle responsibly.

could someone else buy it off him? It feels wrong to add a sidecar to a buell.

    I had a ‘71 R60/5, you can’t really get that irresponsible on one ;-)
The ‘79 R100s I got later (after a ‘77 R60/7) on the other hand, that one didn’t like going slow.

    Not with that attitude!

They are sweet bikes with some really classic styling. Hence why it's still here. If nothing else I need to polish it up and put some new rubber on it. I bet Dale could ride between my legs.

@Mr.bee I've got dibs, but I'll let you know if it ever comes to that.

Thats the spirit. But bmf was at least 50 miles from any roads with decent corners.

Have you ridden it? Quick or fast is not what comes to mind. They do ride sweet though, the /7 was probably my favourite bike, also not that fast but just smooth, solid, very comfortable.
Went from the R100 to a CBR125, that was an adjustment.

Haha yeah, its a slug. I grew up on dirt, and later on owned a few different sport bikes. Risk is better than drugs to me, and anything on two wheels turns me into a full blown junkie. Its best if I keep my distance.

I rode one of those s1000r's, really made me appreciate that my bike doesnt have traction control, abs, or riding 'modes'. Never got used to the air shifter, either.

it looks like my brother shit himself, but he's just taking a pic of his slow bike.

& nada on the tundra today, took it to town, but they didnt have the right size battery for my calipers.

    I win this round Toyota.

Case went back in smooth as butter, about two hours start to finish. Shifts smoothly into 4-Hi and 4-Low and drives without any new or weird noises. Took it for a 25 mile shakedown run and its clean and dry underneath.

Im confident enough in the repair that I have contacted the eBay seller to cancel the replacement I purchased. I probably would have kept it as a backup, but I paid them five days ago and they still haven't shipped. Fuckem.

Since I passed last year, I can say I was today years old when I learned this nuance of the Texas Transportation Code:

    13. If my camper shell covers the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, will that cause me to fail inspection?
No. A camper shell that covers the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp will not be cause to fail inspection.

    14. If my camper shell comes equipped with a Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, but covers the vehicle’s Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, will that cause me to fail inspection?
No; however, if the camper shell was manufactured with a Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, it must be operable at the time of inspection.

Guess I'll be getting that Scamazon replacement TBL for my Leer camper after all. Or paying another 7 dollars and trying again elsewhere....

Actually going to post this in the camper shells thread....I'll post back here when I have a functioning third brake light.

Or just take the cap off, go get tested, reinstall the cap.

It took me less than 10min to run temporary-but-good-enough-for-permanent wiring for my brake light. I think I mighta put it in the infodump reply I made on page 1. If not, I can explain real quick.

Yeah, like a dumbazz I went to a place near my work (far-ish) and not my house, making any kind of quick fix unpossibro. I stopped in a LAPS to price magnetic brake lights but at $50 bucks, nah.

Pods definitely on my long list of lights upgrade. Light bars I would prefer on a new roof rack. I just wished a company would make headlights like these cool Taco ones.

Gotta admit, I don't see a hell of a lot of difference between that halogen DEPO put in the fixture to start with, and Sylvania's ZEVO amber LEDs. If anything, I almost feel like the original halogen filled things out better, but I'll hafta check it at night.

I also learned today you can't really service the parking bulb on my truck without removing the housing, thanks to the position of the coolant overflow bottle. All-in-all, I hope to not need to do this for another 30k-50k miles or more.

LEER camper shell dealer was open and had the part that fit my cap. This is the benefit of not being stuck with scAmazon: the guy said to text him my serial number and a photo of the light just to be sure, he calls Leer, and he confirms he has the light in stock. He said, “I mean this is made in Chyna, too, but Leer gives me, and I give you, a 1-year warranty. And I guarantee this one won’t fog up and leak immediately.” $26 bucks out the door, so basically the same price as Scamazon too. He DID want 80 bucks to install so I passed on that. Here’s the part number in case anyone’s ever following this post: LEER 102627.

    IMG_3100.jpg
Leer guy said to get ALL the old 3M stuff off. No step-by-step because I’m so embarrassed of the janky PO’s wiring. Wish I had more time and I’d buy @daveeasa ’s OEM taillight harness and get all this stuff tucked away properly, but here’s a pic to inspire pity:

    IMG_3102.jpg

As it is, I just needed to get in line for my inspection before the place closes! Bout to be in bitness:
