They don't need a "new" part design. They just need to use the "old" design which is a big ass nut that goes on the end of a threaded axle shaft. That's worked since the beginning of automobiles - a tried and true method.

They have actually gone back to that in 2024 I believe. The "Max" tow axle does not appear to be an option anymore.

My truck isn't a max tow either, so I have the semi-floating 9.75. I guess the max tows get a 3/4 floating 9.75 which has this issue.

I've managed to avoid almost every recall on every one of my F-150s due to not having the impacted options or having a late enough build date where it was corrected on the production line. Only one I remember impacting me was the camera one on my 2020 - Ford got a bad batch of cameras (guess Nissan did too) and had to issue a safety recall since a backup camera is a requirement now.

I will say another reason that has me leaning towards an F150 is due to Toyota not having a legitimate alternative to the Yukon XL / Suburban / Expedition Max. The Sequoia was a wasted re-design. We will probably replace our F25 X3 35i in the 2026-2027 time frame with a Expedition Max. The SO had one for a 1 week rental and loved it.

I'd rather keep the ecosystem the same so all my brand specific tools can be better utilized.

Ford will most likely find a way to somehow incorporate a computer reflash requirement into the axle bolt replacement process.

    This is the way...

That's why we waited for the 2024 (mid cycle enhancement).

We'll be ordering one a 2024 F150 Platinum 3.5EB 6.5 ft bed from either Granger, Chapman NE Philly, or a local dealer that can be competitive with Granger's 4% under invoice pricing.

Tundra was a great truck but the largest local dealership didn't let us test drive it out of their lot and Toyota still hasn't fixed the behavior of their remote start. Despite showing an inventory of 60-70 Tundras on their lot, they also weren't willing to work with us to order a 2024 1794 Crew Cab with a 6.5 bed.

That's what we did with our BMWs.... we had ISTA and a lot of BMW specific tools.

I'm ready to move on to another platform.

I’m guessing GM only offers the 24gal for payload ratings. Another 8 gallons would reduce their payload min of 48 lbs, plus the weight of the extra tank material. It’s all a game of trade-offs.

That’s rough. I’m usually going 450 miles between fill ups. Usually takes 32-33 if I’m at 0 DTE, apparently has 50 miles past that before you’re walking.

Yeah that is definitely a Ford fill up, I don't miss $120-$150 dollar tanks. I haven't hit over $100 in the Tundra ever since I've owned it.

Haha am I missing something or are you implying a smaller tank is better because you get to fill up more often?

@TRDoffroadPRO "Smaller gas tanks are a feature, not a bug"

I'll stick around in this thread just to chap your ass and present an alternate viewpoint to the ̶c̶i̶r̶c̶l̶e̶j̶e̶r̶k̶ echo chamber. I'll also stay active/monitor the 3.4 Engine Failure thread until I know the bugs have been worked out before I put my wife in a GX.

Yeah, I'd rather fill the tank twice a month at $120 per trip than four times at $60 per trip. It all comes out the same in the end.

As someone who had a Tacoma that I loved, I wanted to go for a new Tundra and I feel like I'm relatively unbiased when pitting Ford and Toyota against one another. It left me wanting to say to the engineers "Come on guys, did you even look at your competition?" I get some sacrifices for QDR, but things like no 4 Auto and giant driveshaft humps make me think it was designed in a vacuum - no other half ton truck has those shortcomings today, nor did they years ago.

Agree. I'm not sure the Tundra has ever been super "competitive" in any category besides reliability, and that, for many, is now in question. Tundra is the redheaded stepchild for Toyota, I suspect the 3rd Gen would not even exist if not for the fact that it shares the same platform as other models.

You don't chap anything Buster Brown, funny a brand you dump on is what you are considering on putting your wife in. The redesigned Land Cruiser is nice. Hopefully you will keep your Tremor for at least 4 years and then I would love to see the look on your face when you are told it is worth $22 grand. Of course you sound like you have plenty of cash to :nuclear:

and my raptor would go the same 450 ish range so I filled them up about the same. The Hybrid Tundra does around 3 mps or so better than a full size Raptor.

My man, be reasonable lol we all bought at the peak-ish of the market. People are already being offered low 30k range for their 2022 Tundra’s. I dont think toyota’s usual resale will help us tundra owners for several years. Im no ford guy by any means, but we can have rational discourse and not just brand loyalty pissing matches

Maybe SR5s or so but Limiteds and TRD PRO Hybrids with 10-20k miles are in the 55-65k range. So, I don't know what you are talking about. Try this crap on an F150 forum and this would already have been sent to the trash can. The launch wasn't handled the proper way, and we can all acknowledge that but to continue an Epic thread about the F150 is lol. They don't allow this on their Ford F150 forums.

Resale is not a factor for me when I decide on a vehicle. But since that matters to you I think the Pro does hold it's value a little better than average. The unaware will pay more for the extra stickers and badges.

The world according to our local Ford guy in a tundra thread. Uses his wife's maybe new vehicle as an excuse to talk shit about everyones rigs here in perpetuity, classic.

Toyota has been making trucks for long time, the tundra isn't going anywhere considering they recently moved the taco out of the plant so they can build more of them, obviously the parts shortage has slowed that down more than they would like. Are they going to outsell the F-150, no , but who gives a shit, everyone and their brother drives around in the same damn trucks, kinda like eating McDonalds, they sell the most after all.

I didn't find the f-150 to do anything better than the tundra when I drove them both.

What exactly is so much better on you tremer than on my tundra that is so earth shaking better as you always allude to?

4wd auto makes the tundra not competitive? I don't think so.

The tundra rode better, powertrain was much smoother, transmission wasn't clunky, has the auto load leveling rear, and Ill leave out the obvious one in my case and call it a fluke.

Yeah I just read an article about two Tundras an 08 and a 14 that went for 1 million miles. Toyota bought the 08 back and studied it for the Gen 3 Tundra. I have a warranty for 150k miles to fix anything that breaks. I am good, and yes resale does matter to me because I hate to lose and I hate to lose money specifically.

That is why I get 15-20 percent return on my investments and why I am a national ranked poker player. I don't like to lose.
