No. There were gaps in the bedliner on trucks that had the boxes from the factory. Or at least there were on mine. Below is a pic of where i put a tie down in the bolt location from where my boxes were removed.

I have a plastic liner, I should have specified.

Ah. That makes a lot more sense. I don't know for sure, but would guess that the plastic liner would need to be removed.

If you haven't already looked into swing cases, those may or may not be a decent alternative. Another option might be a secondary bed floor with drawers or to follow my plan. I'm going to cut a plastic liner to fit on my factory liner between the boxes to gain a slick surface. Then build a secondary deck and cover that with rubberized roof coating. Follow up with busboy totes that will slide on the plastic base. Then simply use a pole with a hook to pull em out for access. Much cheaper than the decked system and I don't even think they make a decked unit to function with the Trail Ed. Boxes either. I just like the idea of weatherproof storage that is secured by the locked tailgate. Water will just flow around the totes, but the contents will stay dry. Topping off with over the bed rail black liner coated aluminum side toolboxes as well to gain a bed height about equal to the cab height. That said, my truck has the suspension mods necessary to handle the loading up of all the storage and it is probably far more storage than the average Joe might need. Good luck!

Thanks, interested to see how your project turns out. I looked into swing cases, not too keen on drilling holes. I have a crossover box in my truck, I have been swaying back and forth on the trail edition boxes for a year or so... cost, leaks, bedliner removal...:confused::confused:

I doubt that, I have them and not only are they mirror images of each other, one (drivers side) is also molded to be an insulated cooler. Could they be sold as a set only? Of course, just doubt it.

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried adapting the storage boxes to an 07-13 Tundra Crewmax? I know the wheel wells in my 10 are more rounded, but I was wondering if the rectangular wells on the 14-21s are maybe a bit longer at the top and would let it fit.

Good question, maybe you can find a truck and take some measurements to get a better idea.

These fit any 2nd-2.5gen tundra crew max. The only difference between the gens are the tailgates.

Meaning you can’t use a topper, cap, lid, etc from one gen to another. Everything else bed wise works 1000%

I was able to get a set of these installed in my 2016 Platinum Crewmax today with an ARE cap on it. A bit of a project but they fit. I do need to trim the bed mat more but the weather wasn't on my side. Good enough for now.

These storage boxes only fit on crewmax? Will not work on double cabs?

Once you remove your OEM Bed Rail Tie Downs these get sandwhiched between the OEM bed rails & the bed itself.

You'll need to remove your inner tie down hooks (near the cab) on both sides, you can re-use that hardware with a large washer to create a seal.

The rear tie down hooks will need to be removed, you can reuse the hooks but you'll need longer hardware + thick washer to cover the mounting holes.

Will I need longer bolts for the rail system?

Quick question does anyone in here running it with the double cab 6.5ft bed? I want to get one, I know it's made for the crewmax and if possible it'll have a gap in the front near rear windows but I don't care for that.
