HI Everyone. Thank you for letting me join up. Ive done my share of reading about tundra noises trying to figure it out on my own. Ive read abut the ecm vibrations and dont think this is happening to me.

I have a hoist in my shop and have listened many many times with the truck up and the truck down. With my son inside revving the engine up and down.

The sound/vibration happens everytime around 2000 rpm and is gone about 200 or 300 rpm later. Happens in drive, neutral and park. I can also feel it. In the steering wheel. If I touch the engine etc.

Truck has 90 000km on it.

I welcome any and all opinions and would love if anyone has ideas to help find this.

I wanted to add I think it is towards the back of the engine/firewall. It doesnt seem to be a serpetine belt area.

I will take a stab at guessing - since it does it in park/neutral and is coming from the firewall area my guess would be flex plate/torque converter and since it only does it during certain RPMs I would guess it is slightly out of balance or something like that.

I would still check the pulleys in the front to see if you can see anything moving around in a weird way, sounds can be deceiving as to where in the engine they come from.

Any loss of power or anything like that?

I have no loss in power that I can tell at all. Yes its hard to tell where it is coming from while my son is also revving it up so I can hear it.

I did think that possible it was revving up slightly as I was slowing down say at a stop sign but that could just be downshifting and revving up into that noisey rpm range.

Is there any way to test for the flex plate/torque converter issue? Are these a problem area for these trucks?

I took another look today. No luck. Happens from 2000 to 2300 pretty much exactly. Every time. Turning the sttering wheel has no effect. Air conditioning on or off has no effect. I put a stethiscope on the bell housing and doesnt appear to be there.

So Im going to have to take it too the dealer.

any update? Believe I have same issue. Mine is around 1700-1800 rpm. I have thought heat shield and torque converter. I have tightened down every bolt I can find for heat shields.
