I'm sure they are. In this truck's case, I think the tuning is the biggest issue. The speakers are definitely cheap, but they're held back by the terrible DSP programming. Many of them are the same part numbers that were in my 2020 and they sounded better in that truck.

I just don't get how someone sat in one of these trucks and said "yep, this is good, no need to tweak any further, overbearing center channel midrange is definitely the best plan."

True, I can listen to my Sony 1000X3s all day and tweak and tune the right sound out of them. Along with the Sony app they do everything well extremely awesome on flights when you don't want to talk to anyone. The sound individual equalization and different DSP settings make it seem that you are in the music if you will. I know they have the x4s and x5s now but if you want to hear what your music actually sounds like truer to what the producer wanted you to hear then Sony has it mastered.

I just don't think in the engineering process this is important to Ford, I doubt they even have a sound engineer working on their products and if they do, they are not good at their job. Lexus, Lincoln, Cadillac all employ great systems, don't understand how they can't get this right in a 70-90k truck.

I have the Unleashed/18 speaker system and quite enjoy it for the cost. Try toggling between Surround and and Stereo, i think those are the options, but depending on what you’re listening too one may sound better to you than the other.

I keep going back and forth - the surround mode worked great in my 2020, but in this one it seems to sometimes put even more emphasis on the center speaker.

Ive had my F150 Tremor 3.5 for 5K miles now and I am loving it. I will agree the transmission is clunky on downshifting but its usually because I am coming to a fast stop. Most the time Im either not paying attention or zoning out and if I come to a fast stop on a hill or something of that nature it will clunk in the lower gears. The B&O blows my 17 Platinum JBL system out of the water. Areas I feel my Tundra was inferior and cannot even get close to keeping up with the Tremor is the ride smoothness, quietness in the cab, MPG and tech features. Having the keypad on the door and remote control from phone has been MASSIVE for me and the huge screen is always convo starter with everyone. Also camera system on the F150 is much better. Again comparing a 23 to a 17 of any make or model is hard but this F150 has been a blast so far.

I priced a new king ranch with similar options to my 1794…the sticker was 81k!

I know they do invoice if you order one…sure didn’t seem like they want to budge at all if you don’t…which is weird cause they had about 1,000 of em on the lot…67 is still 4k more than I paid for a lightly used 1794 with bedliner, cat covers, safe, dash cam, paint protection, electric running boards/bed step etc. :notsure:

I had a harder time getting invoice on one sitting on a lot too (first F-150 was an order). I don't understand why - the trucks are costing them money to sit on the lot, while an order never sits. You'd think they'd be willing to negotiate more on stock trucks than an order.

Avalanche! That's my color too. I'm not normally a white truck guy, but I love the slight gray hue.

Interestingly, I was seeing dealers advertising discounts in-line with invoice pricing, then suddenly they weren't. It was probably right around when Ford announced 2.9% for 72 months.

Every dealer I talked to then wasn't interested in selling at invoice. I told them look, MSRP on these trucks went up around $10k in three years. I'm already eating that increase, I'm not going to combine that with a worse deal than I've gotten in the past. That's where the conversation ended with all of them - they wouldn't budge.

I had basically given up and saw this truck which is optioned very close to my ideal. I threw out my normal if you'll sell at invoice I'm interested. They replied with "we can do that" and I drove down that day to sign the paper.

The tech isn't better on the f150, the trd offroad package in limited trim adds a front camera, off road cameras with terrain underneath, digital rear view camera, angle views and a better car play interface with wireless connection. Ford is a fine truck the most popular selling brand just don't understand such love for them when you go to tehir boards and they general trash them. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

You have the UAW to thank for the general 10-15k price increases over the past few years that and bean counters who might turn your oil pan into plastic or your cam phasers into loud clunks on start up.

Lol, go to raptor forum look at cam phaser posts or the f250 forum and diesel posts. I'm not linking other forums to this one but yeah they do.

I’ve been on this forum since 2014 or so and I have never seen so much negative feedback about a truck like this 3rd gen tundra. I am apart of a F150 Tremor forum and it’s nonstop members saying how happy they are with there trucks. Basically what I’m saying is you can go to any forum and see what you want to see whether it’s the good or the bad.

I traded my 22 platinum for a 23 raptor. It's been nothing but a positive experience. Cam phasers hasn't been a thing last 3 model years. You've got engines grenading every other day on the 3rd gen tundra.

I have owned 2 Raptors, they are cool trucks but if you plan to keep them beyond 4-5 years be prepared to spend some money. I fell off that wagon when the fox shocks went to $6-7 k a set. You either haveto rebuild them or replace them every 60k miles. I don't pay cash for my trucks because I use them for work and get reimbursed for mileage and usage. I can't deduct that off my taxes since i get reimbursed for them, and I tend to get a new truck every 3-4 years on average. My sports cars are paid for so it doesn't make sense for me to pay cash for a large depreciated vehicle when I use it for work, if it was a personal vehicle and I kept the miles low then yeah I would have paid cash for it. The sports cars I own remain low mileage all original examples so they tend to appreciate in value.

I'm not a Ford basher but my 2011 Raptor had to have the sunroof frame replaced. Hvac motors replaced, and I replaced the fox shocks with rebuilds every 50k miles. My wife has a timberline Explorer but I keep trying to get her into a new Land Cruiser/ Lexus GX 550 as it is called.

Who has been blowing up their Tundra motors, my 23 has been flawless and 587 ft lbs of torque is more than the Raptor's 3.5.

You are mainly buying the frame with the F150, that frame is like railroad ties and the most durable on the market. It is bewildering why the 3rd gen Tundra has so much hate, I have liked this body style Tundra better than the older generation since I started seeing them on the roads. Maybe the Ford guys feel a little heat from it since they certainly have nothing to worry about from Ram or Chevy. Who knows but Ihave never seen a primary owner forum spend so much time on another model. It 8s kind of weird, my first vehicle was a Toyota and their products have always had great resell value.

The Gen 2 and Ford non owners, provide about 2/3 of the input on the Gen3 forum. It's odd and unlike any other forum.
I don't spend time on the F150 forum talking about how my F150 was bought back and what I learned about all the zombie trucks on the Ford backlot. Why would I?
The non-owners here love to repeat and propagate issues from every avenue possible even though most have no direct experience.
Hilarious too that people with 25 year old trucks are providing product management input. Not exactly Toyotas target market customer.
For me, if I was buying a truck and the Gen 3 wasn't available a Gen 2 would be #4 on my list after GMC, Ford and Ram in that order.

As I was stating you can go onto any forum and find the negative things being said about the brand of that forum. The tundra is a bullet proof truck thus why I have owned 2 of them. I checked out the 23 and liked the tremor better. Could my tremor have issues in the future 100% possible. Anyone who has their head in the sand that ANY vehicle will never have its issues is letting brand loyalty put a blind fold on reality. You buy a truck for your own personal reasons. Just cause I love my tremor doesn’t mean that makes the gen 3 tundra shit. That’s the issue now days someone who owned a 1998 dodge that had issues will run around saying the brand is shit 25 years later. A 25 year old opinion is not relevant to me. Now if I pulled up next to a guy in the same year and model truck as mine and said this thing is a hunk of shit yes I would worry a tad lol.

Agree. 25 year ago experience is ancient history. Not relevant. My F150 was a 2022 that went back 6 months ago. I don't think the Fords are shit until you have problem and then I think they are a big pile of shit. The policies the dealers have to live under are beyond stupid as the Ford corporate tries to cut warranty expense.

In terms of anticipated reliability, I'd rather drive a 35-year-old Ford than a new one.
