Hello - I’ve read through many threads and haven’t clearly figured this one out. I installed Morimoto XB headlights and tail lights. My truck had all stock halogens. I installed the fuse tap but didn’t need the turn signal adapter plug. My base plug was a 3 wire set up and required a direct connect. All worked well. Installed the tail lights and had a hyper flash with the blinker. Morimoto said the resistor (15ohm) that was supplied needed to be the 7.5ohm. All good. Big question is that the DRL white halo stays on all the time, even if the stalk is switched to off. Is there a fix for this? Appreciate any input.

Aren't the DRLs suppose to be on "all the time"? Mine are unless I use the turn signal, then that side's DRL returns as soon as the blinker switches off. If you are use the "sexy" sequential turn signal up front it will probably hyper-flash with other LEDs in the tail lights. Connecting the signal plugs on the headlights will give you a basic turn signal and should negate a hyper-flash (supposedly).

The DRL’s stay on all the time once the ignition is turned on. If you are parked and want no lights on while the truck is running I don’t think it’s possible with the XB’s. The hyper flash was was due to the wrong size resistor being sent, get the right size and no hyper flash.

Yeah, no way to have "no lights" with XBs that I am aware of if you're running the DRLs. Mine are the same.

So I have been down this rabbit hole and discussed it with Morimoto. Once the XB's are installed, the "DRL off" position no longer works on the Tundra. It has something to do with the way the circuit is set up and the way our trucks are wired (I'll have to find that email for their wording). The funny part......you can still use the DRL off function with the XB's on the 4Runner.

^ and there we have it.

The “halo” on mine are actually even brighter when I have the DRL “off”, side marker isn’t lit either.

    IMG_8834.jpg
when I turn my knob to DRL the halo dims a bit and the side marker in the headlight turns on

My question is - do I risk burning them out by always leaving DRL off (brighter halo) I like the halo brighter midday

The dimming when the side marker is on because you are actually in parking light mode. Your tail lights will be on too.
