Hello all! New to the forum. I have a 2019 SR5 5.7L crewmax. It has a level kit. I’m looking to give it some payload assistance and to tow a travel trailer in the 4-7,000lb range.

im looking to add a blue ox WDH and E range tires and a TRD rear sway bar (since I’ve read they’re recommended). What else would yall reccomend? I want to drive good with and without trailering anything and still have off road capability without a trailer. This is mostly for hunting out west and being able to tow a trailer as a base camp.

should I do anything with the rear leaf? Do I need the rear sway bar?

I definitely want to help out the tongue weight b/c my tundra is rated for 1560 payload and I want to be able to load up with gear and such.

any other recs would be appreciated thank you!

You don't require 10ply tires to tow a TT with a weight between 4-7K. With the right weight distribution hitch rated for the trailer and set up properly you don't need to do anything with the rear suspension. The added rear sway bar will make for a slightly better tow experience in heavy wind but you will probably not notice any difference.

I'll add to my post. Spend your money on adding a transmission cooler and tow mirrors.

gotcha. I’m more considered about assisting with the payload I guess than the towing capacity for cargo purposes.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! The good news is that Toyota over-engineers their trucks. The bad news is that there is very little, and possibly nothing, you can do to increase the payload in a way that will pass muster if anything happens and the authorities start investigating your load configuration. I don't know of any way to have the payload numbers officially increased.

Makes sense. Not looking to necessarily increase payload, just looking to make it a more manageable drive and easier to tow.

What’s the hitch weight here on your setup if I may ask?

Is that 1560 a published number or the actual door sticker?

The reason I ask is that I have essentially the same truck as you (2019 Crewmax SR5 4X4 5.7) and my door sticker is under 1300 lbs.

I do have the TRD OR package but I wouldn't thingk that would be hundreds of lbs. reduction.

The good news is that my stock truck performs wonderfully with nothing more than my Andersen WDH towing my 5,500 lb. trailer.

I’ll have to double check the sticker. Thanks for pointing that out. What about payload? Any issues? I obviously wanna take my wife and kid and dog.

the 4-7k camper isn't a concern. It'll be you maxing out payload that happens first. You're going to want to know the weight of all of your gear and passengers combined. Then subtract that from your payload capacity. Then that's what's left for camper payload. Everything adds up including a WDH, battery, propane etc. Having 3 guys in the truck with you can already take out 600lbs of payload. Add in another 300lbs of gear, now you're at 900lbs leaving you witch 600lbs worth of payload left for the camper itself (using your 1500lbs payload estimate).

Tires and suspension will not increase the payload of your truck. Look on the door jam and there is a yellow sticker that will give you what your truck is rated for. If your at 1200lbs payload subtract your tongue weight from the trailer, the weight of any accessories you have installed and the weight of the passengers and cargo. If your added up value is over the door jam number you are over payload, unlikely on a trailer under 7000lbs but you still need to do the math.

High quality Weight Distributing Hitch - the kind with bars, not with chains - set up by a reputable hitch shop, not by your RV dealer.

Weigh your setup when it's fully loaded. Use a hitch scale to make sure your tongue weight is 10-15% of your trailer weight.

No issues... My trailer is pretty light @ 5,500 lbs GVWR, and I'm pretty close to that most of the time I tow.

My Lance has quite a bit of storage and I load what I can in there. I also tow with a full fresh water tank; I know the water quality at my house, and I prefer how it handles with some tongue weight.

I'm almost always close to, if not occasionally a few pounds over payload, but I keep it as close as possible. Popular opinion is that our Tundras are overbuilt a bit.

Of course all my happy campers have to come too!

Load your trailer and TV as if you are headed out on your trip before you install/adjust the WDH. Make sure the WDH is properly sized for your trailer GVWR. A friend of ours towing a 4,400 GVWR trailer with a Silverado showed me a written estimate from Camping World to install a 10,000# Fastway E2 WDH. Had she not come to me for advice her trailer A frame most likely would have bend in short order.
