Whatever this forum told me to do
    soooo..Ford

is doing "software updates - yet Tesla has "recalls".

Ford is bricking your vehicle - Tesla is not.

I think I heard the Blazer EV is doing the same?

    yet...no media.

what a strange world we live in.

I am sure the claim is that with Ford you can't drive the vehicle so you can't get yourself in trouble/injured.

Notice the Toyota issues that recently surfaced have not made much headline news?

Yeah, I refuse to watch anything that jack hole does. The ridiculous waste and excess is sickening. I can't stand to see it.

    That was painful to read.

We all know Tesla is the leader of the EV game... for now. So many companies have started out this way. They make THE product for their audience, and then they get lazy because of the success. They take the status of being king for granted and assume it will remain the status quo.

They stop innovating, and eventually somebody at the very least rises to challenge them or even dethrone them. Look at what has happened to the big names in other industries that were king at one time or another. Remington, Colt, and Winchester in the firearms industry are all shadows of their former selves. There are legitimate and viable options other than the once apex tier iPhone. Closer to the topic at hand, the once "cheap crappy" foreign cars have successfully dethroned the once dominant domestic brands in all but the full size truck market.

I think Tesla will suffer the same once Elon is no longer at the helm, whether that happens through death, voluntary departure, or the weaponization of government censure and antitrust laws. It'll be like when Job passed. Apple ceased to innovate. They only continue to exist for the same reason that Glock is still around. They have a borderline cult following, but in a generation or two they'll be has beens.

QC & tech continue to improve and prices have come down, that's the opposite of lazy business practices in my opinion.

I agree with you on the gov, they could destroy Tesla

Oh it'll be a while. Apple was legitimately innovative and did well for quite a while, and so did Colt and Remington. Decades even. They eventually got lazy.

I actually saw one when I was down in Utah. They look waaaay better than Teslas. That's the only thing other EVs have on Tesla. They can absolutely crush them on looks because Tesla is so focused on the aerodynamics in their cars/CUVs (not so much on the CT) that they can't compete with the looks of some of the others. Not sure how much of their range advantage comes from that commitment to airflow, too.

Look at the Tundra and what happens to it's MPGs when it gets a lift or anything else that negatively impacts the airflow. It's not an insignificant percentage of gain or loss if you can believe what you read on the internet.

    LOL

I just realized the word Polestar.

    that's quite awful.

so, on a remedial level, the connotations of that word is simply " a really good stripper"

what other meanings could it have? - in a normal world.

you would have to REALLY stretch to make it something respectable.

    or
do we all just look past that?

    BINGO.

If an auto maker could simply execute electrifying a "normal" looking car..it would sell like hotcakes.

Ex: Lexus should EV the LS500 sedan....awesome cruiser

the LX600 SUV...awesome soccer mom Ute.

but nooooo.....EV's have to look spastic because current battery tech mandates super slippery CD values.

The MS looks very nice & I'm not prejudice. even at 10+ years old. kinda like the LS460...our 2011 is still looking good to this day.

The S and the X do look the best of the lineup, but they got nothing on stuff like this.

They definitely have the looks down on the car. I've not seen the SUV. As for their future.... unless they can pull a magical price reduction of 50-75% out of their hat then they are likely to be absorbed by some other brand. They are ludicrously overpriced.

I wonder how much efficiency gas cars would gain if they were designed with a low drag coefficient in mind as well

Don't quote me...but Semi's gain up to 5% with all that wind related crap dangling off of them. the rear trailer mounted doo-hicky thing being very effective....but nobody uses it.

So If I had to ball park it....I would say they would gain 4%. only on the HWY. and that's a stretch.

but EV's need every smidge of juice.

the MS used to be the slipperiest car out there till MB started selling their EV.

How much gain does the new Tundra get from the chin spoiler? if any.

I think they do a lot for it, but with the need for air through the radiator and such there are more limits than what can be done with an EV.
