I haven't been on here for a while but after having a major issue with my tundra and absolutely no support from my dealership (that I worked for for 9 years) and couldn't get an answer from toyota, I decided it was easier to unload the problem and move on.

Over 3 years of ownership there were several times I would turn the key on my truck and it would turn over but not start, it would do this 4 or 5 times and then finally start and blow smoke like a diesel because it had flooded itself so bad. Every time I would take it in they would plug it into the computer, see the misfire code, supposedly update the computer and send me on my way. After almost 3 years of this happening every few months I contacted toyota about it and getting no resolution there because my truck had 73,000 miles on it. Even though the issue started at 7,000 miles. It really sucks but I felt like there was no resolving the problem and I didn't want to be stuck with a truck that I was afraid would leave me stranded. I traded it in on a 2017 Silverado and so far I am pleasantly surprised with how much I like this truck. I'm normally not one to spread negativity and that's why I've been so quiet but I just thought I'd share my experience8295aa5d528c7092df729d41bffab2c1_8e47ccba2a2485e3a85f6a8996a854cb3d45a2ac.jpgdd16ffc43643d769a5fc358a71189398_7d4798d73e88adc47312c82a8a5b91164039eca6.jpg6086fc514d850841e13fec85018ce6bd_124d7c463b5c15d51208d607e252dec04bd01451.jpg

I would have abandoned ship as well. No vehicle manufacturer produces top quality 100% of the time (although Toyota and Lexus are pretty flippen high on the list). Sorry your experience was not a good one. This is a rare occurrence, that is for sure.

Enjoy the new Chevy, that blue is an awesome color. What package did you get?

Sorry to hear about your experience.

Nice looking Silverado and good luck with that. I've had many Chevy trucks over the years and several issues with my 2011 Silverado; traded it in on a 2014 Silverado which ended up with even more issues with HD radio, AFM and 7 recalls + 7 software updates in 2 years. The last straw was when they recalled the trailer hitch platform and driver's seat belt with no parts to fix them for several months. Weird driving a truck where the driver's seat belt has been known to fail in certain collisions and the trailer hitch welds could break while towing. The good news is that mine did not have the "Chevy Shakes" that many on the GM-Trucks forum talked about (bad vibration at 53+MPH).

That is why I am in a 2016 Tundra. However, I know many others who haven't had this level of issues with newer models ('15 or '16). I truly hope you have one of the good ones! I gave up on them.

Hate to hear you had to leave the Toyota family. Good luck with your new truck!

I do believe you'll be back though.

    Nice. Those are rather comfy.

Did GM ever put rear disc brakes back on? Sorry, been out of the GM 1/2 ton market since 95'.

Good luck with the GM, hopefully your dealer will do better for you than your Toyota dealer did - because frankly, that is pathetic. As if clearing a fault code and updating software is going to do anything to cure a leaking injector or whatever the real issue was / is.

Good luck with it . Sounds like you had the same kinda experience I had with Ford . Really I think it all boils down to if you have a good one don't let go.

    Nada yet.
Congrats on the new ride. Looks sharp. I know Chevy has a lot of great rebates right now. If you have the 5.3, be sure to tune out the AFM and do not pressure wash the frame or the wax coating will come off and lead to rust. I wish Toyota could match Chevy (and Fords) MPG's with their V8's. How do you like the 8 speed?

Can't blame you, I've been sitting on a Ford 2011 Ranger for almost 2 years. I call every 6 months to be told they don't have parts and don't know when they will get them to fix the airbag. It's hard to buy a vehicle from anyone once you get a bad one.

I hope you have better luck with the Chevy, sorry to hear about your Toyota.
The whole reliability thing is based on statistics and probability. A lot of people don't get it.
Maybe 1 of 10 Tundras is a lemon.
Maybe 4 of 10 Chevies is a lemon.
    Maybe 6 of 10 fiat/dodges are lemons.
The bottom line is you CAN get a great dodge and you CAN get a sorry Tundra.
We're still just playing the lottery...

One would sure expect a problem like that to be solved quickly plus being an employee of the dealership and he still got screwed... totally unacceptable.

I just traded my 2015 GMC 1500 all terrain towards a Tundra. The GM has an awesome 4x4 system, averaged 20+ mpg but the throttle response sucked because of the 8 to 4 cylinder and it would shift hard at times. Sorry you had crappy experience with the tundra

Was wondering where you went. We're active early on. Sucks that you had a bad experience with Toyota and a problem with the Tundra they couldn't diagnose correctly to fix.

Sorry to see you go. The issue appears to be with that dealership, not the manufacturer. I am a 48 year old lifetime GM owner who finally wised up and sold every GM vehicle in the family within the last 8 months. The entire family now drives Toyota. I have 1700 miles on my Tundra Limited, I miss some frills the GM Silverado had but look forward to the reliability.

Sorry to hear of your troubles with the Tundra and your dealership, Aaron. I've experienced both types with previous vehicles myself and know how frustrating it can be. My Dad is a longtime GMC guy, and particularly loves his latest, a 2017 6.something. Best of luck with your new truck!
