If they made the TRD Sport in the SR5 with the 6.5' bed, my decision would be made.

Really glad I stumbled upon this thread. I put a deposit down on CMLB and didn’t realize it was a LB until after the fact. The stock photos of the LB look awful but the pictures in the thread are awesome.

I would not even consider the shorter bed. I can’t count the amount of times I benefitted from the long bed in the few months I’ve owned it. Cameras make it easy to park and the only thing I do different is I end up parking it a bit farther (and I can use the walk lol). I even took it into the city and it was fine even in underground right garages. Never ever would I get the shorter bed. I’m so happy inwent with my gut.

Loving the long bed so far. Sucks parking this thing in parking lots but other than that it's awesome.

Disclaimer: I traded my 09 Crewmax for a long wheelbase CC F150 so not a Gen3 Tundra owner.

I have given up on ever parking my crew cab half tons in a garage unless I hit the jackpot and find a home I like with an over sized 2 car. This opinion is not for those who want to fit in a tight garage.

I do not own the Crewmax 6.5 but got the F150 I replaced my 09 Crewmax with with the long bed because it was the right color and had the most other things I wanted. If Toyota has anything similar to the 360 degree camera package on the Fords should be good to go. And I believe something like that is available on the Tundra. I thought making this step up from only owning 5.5 bed trucks would be problematic in a daily driver but the Camera system allows me to do almost everything with my 157 wheelbase F150 I could do with my 09 Crewmax. Includes Maneuvering in tight lots or parallel parking in down town Philly without looking like a complete dork as long as the spot is physically big enough. Front and rear cameras and bird’s eye view take all guess work out of maneuvering. Only thing I miss over a 5.5 foot bed is my days of making a tight u turn if I miss a turn in one swing without backing up are mostly over. With the camera packages they have out now I generally won’t think twice about CC long bed half tons in any brand anymore. The camera systems for me make the drawbacks of the extra length minuscule compared to the extra bed space.

But again I have accepted never garaging a truck again.

Thanks, yup just a vinyl wrap. 3m gloss white. Matched the truck close enough.

Wanted 6.5? Yes. Getting? No. Dealer had an allocation for one with everything I wanted except the 6.5ft bed. Only had a couple coming with 6.5ft and the trims and/or options weren't anything like I wanted. Bed size was near the bottom of my want list since my MIL and FIL are moving in with us in an in-law suite on out house so I'll have access to his F250 with 6.5ft bed if I ever need bigger for some reason.

I have the crew max with 6.5’ bed, barely fits in my garage. I think the bumper to bumper length is 245”, which is 20’ 5” long. So it’s not small. It’s a challenge in tight parking say in a downtown center, or a small parking garage. Still I love it, but I’d probably avoid driving it to an urban shopping mall in a large city. I find that it’s turn radius and maneuverability are just fine. But sometimes, say at the local library if I place my rear bumper on the parking spot line my front wheel is even with the end of the line for my space and everything past my front tire “hangs out” of the space

Nice, congrats. I am also in the Hampton Roads area. It will be nice seeing some more Gen 3s on the road in this area.

How is the turn radius on this combo? My 08 double cab turns on a dime and I love that, but I have a CC 6.5 reserved as the '22 double seems a bit small in the back for what I usually carry.

I had an 08 F150 extended cab with the long bed, don't really notice much of a difference except.when backing a trailer. But it's a different truck, have to expect some different driving specs and adjust.

I’m coming from a 4Runner so my firsthand knowledge of past model is limited. From what I’ve researched and heard from others on here, it appears to be close to par with previous generations and competitors.

I have a 2011 tacoma right now and am looking to grab a CMLB here in the next couple years. This truck is literally my dream, 2" front level? What tire size you got wrapped around those wheels? they the 18" TRD pro wheels?

I have a 23 CM 6.5 bed platinum and will say if you use your truck like a truck you'll appreciate the extra bed space. I just can't do the 5.5 bed for my needs. It is like parking a limo but you get used to it.

Only caveat is the trd lift is almost mandatory with how long and low it looks.

It’s absolutely horrible. Still wouldn’t do a 5.5, but seriously, I loathe parking lots.

I'll 2nd that. You definitely won't be doing u turns at stop lights but again you get used to it. Just treat it as a big truck. The cameras and pano view definitely help.

It’s surprising - I came out of a crew/6.5 ram and while it drove big, it wasn’t nearly as unwieldy as the tundra.

    Lots of stuff!
I completely agree with the need for the cameras, it makes close maneuvering much more relaxed. Parking is really where the 6.5 bed CM is a challenge.

Otherwise not too much different on the road. The extra storage space seems limitless :)
