    I'm sorry, Josh. :(
This sucks and I feel devastated for your loss. But/ and, I'm glad you're not physically hurt. And hope that in a day or two, some of these guys' advice about retaining your truck after insurance does it's thing, will make sense and you can find a silver lining that works for you.

That's not how we do things here frenchy. You have to say I before it, unless it's a highway. Then it's just the number. Like I took 287 to Dallas the other month.

I was about to go off on a rant, but I'll save it. Almost had the same thing happen a few years back, but I would've t-boned the stupid bitch right in the middle of her Mercedes. I slammed on the brakes from 50mph and missed her by a few feet. This was before Panhandlemonium and I was kinda upset I didn't let it happen. Now, yeah, I would be devastated too. If you need anything we're only a few hours away. We can have "Replacin in the Basin" or something.

Hey man, I work at a bodyshop so I have some advice if you wanna go this route.

Get the insurance to write a preliminary estimate (no disassembly). You will get a check and then can choose a bodyshop. At this point do not go forward with the insurance claim. Use the check that you received and drop off at a bodyshop under "customer pay" and not insurance. You will have to add money to the repairs for the unseen damages behind the fender and additional hardware but this will be the way to save it from being a total loss. Only insurance companies deem vehicles as a total loss due to the cost of repairs/value of the vehicle.

If you need/want any help then feel free to reach out to me, buddy.

I take that back. I do say "40" and "27". But never "the 40" or the "the 27".

    Nope. Dunno whassup with that.

I could get down for that but I’d prefer it if you lived outside the rust belt before I helped invest on a parts truck to put on your lot

Hell yeah! Except some states won’t tag/title a salvage vehicle? I think GA is one of those, but I defer to this guy, who does related stuff for a living in my state:

@MrDirtjumper listen to this dude, and JakeJake. JakeJake recently went thru it so has current experience. Dakillacore works in the industry and has that related experience.

GA does title salvage vehicles but its a PITA from what I have heard, and can take a considerable amount of time. You have to tow the vehicle to the inspection site for it to be inspected and approved by GA (by people that don't know jack about repairs). All out of pocket expenses. I have seen some salvage titled vehicles that should absolutely not have been approved as "road worthy" due to 5 inches of bondo on panels that needed to be replaced, hah.

I guess the level of difficulty on approval depends on if you get an inspector that is just there for a paycheck or you get an inspector that takes the job very seriously.

Also as a note; most body shops do not want to deal with salvage title repairs due to the time it takes up in the shop. Most shops are production based and work on getting the cars in and out fast. The shops that do end up taking on the salvage title repairs can be a bit shady and can half-ass a lot of repairs. This is by making it look good on the outside but extremely unsafe in the event of another accident on the inside supports and crush zones.

Calling them anything but "the 10" and "the 40" sounds foreign to me.

We also have county routes in in SoCal, most people I meet add the S before those such as "the S-22" or just "S-22". For example "The 22" freeway and "the S-22" are completely different roads.

We've got TX35 and I35. Both often get abbreviated to just 35. Luckily ones near Houston and the other runs thru San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and I don't know where else

I didn't realize they were the same road. But it must not become telephone road until you get on the east side of I45. I assume you take 35 to get to my place from your grand parents

Oh and down in FL you have SR, CR, HWY, and interstate, where S and C are state and county.

It was totally confusing as hell, unless you were local to the area. You just had to know the area to know what people were saying. Nobody would ever say "the 75" or "the 95" or "the 10". It was just the number, or I- with the number.

Up here in GA it seems to be the same, but there's a lot less focus on the number and more focus on the name.

These two states are where I've logged most of the million or so miles in my lifetime, so I can't speak to others.

The news likes to call the highways around here by their names, which are confusing as hell. East freeway, Northwest freeway, etc. The only one that makes sense to me is the Gulf freeway (I45), because it goes all the way to Galveston

Yeah, it's one of the things that pisses me off about ATL specifically. Same problem. I prefer numbers.

But beyond that, they looooove doing the "memorial" thing on streets, so sometimes streets will randomly change names because someone wasted a ton of taxpayer dollars memorializing it to someone.
