Owned three or four of Civics. I never bought older than ‘95. Refused to go to that next generation. Too much PTSD from installing aftermarket stereos in the next gen. Why they ever tied keyless into the OEM stereo I’ll never understand.

I took the face off of the factory radio to make it smaller, left the one needed plug on and dropped it down inside the dash. Then installed the aftermarket Kenwood. Worked great and kept all the security system stuff.

That was our MO also: hide it in the dash. I think they make a bypass for it at this point, but back then that was the only logical solution. Which made it difficult to do other stuff and just felt sloppy to me. And I don’t normally do “sloppy”.

I may or may not have also owned a '97 Civic DX hatch with a B18A swap :anonymous:

There's a photograph of it somewhere in a photo album in the attic that was developed from a negative exposed from a disposable camera at the drug store. Holy shit that sounds so damn old

Quick story that nobody cares about but I'll tell it anyway.

It's been 84 years now......... I owned a dope 95 Chebby short wide V8 manual in 90's teal green with tan interior. 2/4" drop and custom wheels with full paint out for all chromey bits. Little stereo system, tint, roll pan and exhaust. So nice. Then I rear-end a jackass in a turn lane that fakes like he's gonna go, then brake checks as I'm rolling forward and looking left to see if there's any oncoming traffic. There wasn't. Anywho, being young and already having a few things on my record, my insurance pays to fix my truck, then unceremoniously dumps me. I am unable to get more insurance for less than a king's ransom, so I take the truck to the Honda dealer and trade my pride and joy in on a new 97 Honda and put it in my then girlfriend's name (her first car) and she gets insurance on it. I continue to drive it of course and put a deposit on a 98 Ext. cab 3rd door Green and Tan 350 V8 auto chebby (the offending ticket that was ruining all my fun was scheduled to drop off my record in 6 months). Fun times. I never in a million years would have purchased the Honda for me. Just not a little car guy. It was a great little car though and fun to drive in manual. Even though the shift linkage was made of silly putty and the clutch had poor feel. That little motor would rev.

I remember with my 95 sedan, The minute I rolled it over to 100k, I was like, "Time for a new vehicle!" and totally used that as an excuse to trade it in on another truck. In hindsight, I realize what a f'n idiot I was. I think I got like $1,500 on trade-in for an '03 Sierra. Wasn't worth it.

    Having just done the TB/WP job, I’ll throw out a couple things often overlooked;

Change your cam and crank seals. Just do it.

There are special tools for holding the cams against rotating, while removing and retorquing the cam pulley bolts, and another for the crank. While it’s possible without them, you will struggle in retard fashion. It's definitely worth buying or renting something, or if you’re crafty, set aside extra time to make something that will do the job. The crank bolt is 181 ft.lbs

Speaking of the crank bolt, there is a trick to bust it loose that you'll find on youtube. It seemed like a really dumb idea, and with so many possible worse case scenarios as a result. I was really surprised how well it did work. Just be smart about it, make sure your socket is solid and square on the bolt, and don't have anyone peeking into the engine bay. It is a clenching moment, but successful.
(breaker bar with a cheater tube backed against the frame, bump the starter. at your own risk)
Then you've still gotta find a way to hold it against the 181 ft.lbs. to tighten it
The AC condenser has bolts that go into the fan bracket and a couple that are pretty well hidden into the block aft of the unit.
Do yourself a favor and use a white paint marker to clearly mark the belt, cam pulley, and crank pulley where the tiny punch marks are, and beware the cams will be trying to move when you don't want them to (unless you get the cam locking tool)
Like someone else said, a way to keep your bolts organized will keep you from an aneurysm, if not a complete postal breakdown. That may be a bit dramatic, but there are many, and all different types and lengths, Nearly all take 12mm and 14mm sockets and wrenches, so that's nice.

I thought about doin the 2 tone thing as well, but you'd have to paint the whole truck. Black would have to be the bottom half if anything. Leave it all black, it is the fastest color, ya know?
Maybe you guys figured this out already but I know I've seen Sequoias with gold emblems, and I believe later year tundras.

This is me, tryin to catch up

I had an '86 honda prelude, stick in the floor. no governor. Got up to 126mph on the tollroad before it got the shakes. Sunroof, 12" alpine thumper in the trunk. Loved that little car. Wrapped the front bumper around a tree with BAL of .26% Whoops! My bad.

Almost bought an @shifty` approved gold 88 Prelude with a stick. Mom wouldn't go for it at the time. My 84 charger had shit the bed and needed to be scrapped.

Truthfully I wasn’t even aware of what an 84 Charger looked like until I looked it up. Looks like the Dodge Daytona a guy I worked with owned. Nothing but problems with that car but he loved it when it actually worked.

Maybe it was a Laser now that I think back? I can’t remember.

All I remember us it was a manual 4banger. And at 6'+ riding in the back seat was literally painful. That's where she, and her sister the Medusa x-wife put me.

I'll have to show off the work of my old man. The man don't fuck around when it comes to a build. It's a '54 F100 stepside. The badass one where the front and back glass wrap around the corners. To give an idea of how deep he goes into it; first thing is complete disassembly. Frame was sent to be stripped, trued, then powdercoated, the cab was sent out to a body shop to be made like new again, and ready for paint. slammed it, Which causes a whole bunch more work, like all new suspension, fuel tank relocation, etc. New disc brakes all around. A shit ton of custom hot rod parts, including a new motor and drivetrain built for the dragstrip. Complete new electrical harness throughout.
Needless to say I'm proud of my pops.
He just finished it and is getting rid of it already.

I resemble that. But I also expect a properly pinned plug to be used for any add on's. (and I forget Dave exists as an option - because I modify so infrequently.)
