It's really going to come down to what's most convient with the tail gate handle/camera combo I bought. It's been a while since I added it to the parts pile. But the first thing I have to do is figure out what the heck is up with the head unit and CB. I been wanting to remove this CB since I bought the truck, because it was taking up valuable leg room. I detached it from the lower dash panel and set it in my center console for the last two years. When I tried to remove the wiring and the in-line fuse, the head unit stopped working. That's been keeping me from messing with it again. I just want both the CB and the current head unit gone. One of these days I'll mess with it again.

The wiring for the CB has an in-line fuse on the wiring and it's all tied into the head unit somehow. I haven't taken the head unit out, or the dash apart, to really figure out what's going on. I just know when I tried to remove the CB wiring so I could completely remove the CB from the truck, as soon as I undid the in-line fuse that goes from the CB radio wiring to inside the dash somehwere, the touch screen head unit stopped working. That's all I know at this time. It's all tied together somehow, some reason. Both gotta go.

I tapped the reverse light circuit at the 7 pin trailer connector. I'm not willing to chop my taillight harness.

I don’t use splices that chop, anyone who uses quicktaps/scotchocks/t-taps is a f’ing maniac in my book, those things are sketch!

Dave’s harness did me right, so I could tap from a tee that was properly sourced out of a crimped OEM style connector. But I also wouldn't hesitate to Posi-tap from a normally-dry place, like up behind the driver’s side tail light housing. That’s what I did for the Leer shell, temporarily. And when I adapt that out, using another one of Dave’s harnesses, all I need to do is pull the Posi-tap for use on another day, and put a dab of liquid electrical tape over the tiny pinhole it creates in the sheath.

yep, and its likely they are producing cold joints. I would take a bs crimp connector over a cold solder joint. I have never had a proper soldered and heatshrunk connection fail, and I've probably done thousands.

The amount of people I've found who don't know what tinning is explains why a huge swath people hate soldering or find it difficult.

@455h0le_dachshund Torsion bar is great. Helps with lifting tailgate. Doesn't slow it down so don't just unlock and let it go, it will slam. But is does help make it feel way lighter to lift it.

After taking a small pole, the majority of you suggested that I NOT do a metallic silver two tone.
Determined to do something with this paint, I decided to touch up that inlay inside of the body side moldings. You know, the moldings that most of you all hate. I actually like them.
This is a detail that only I will notice and doesn’t make a difference in the way that the truck looks whatsoever. It took about 15 minutes and I guess it was worth it. It’s just one of those things that you would never know. I thought that I went overkill on the tape until I removed it and found that I actually had overspray that needed to be taken off at the bottom.
Yes, I know that I need to do a plastic restoration to the black trim. That will get done, but here is the result so far.

I personally love the trim on these trucks. I've been thinking about using vinyl wrap to 'white out' my silver section thru there. Possibly doing white plasti-dip just so I can peel it off later if I hate it. I think plasti-dip would be easier for me, personally.

I covered that area on mine with 3M carbon fiber. I also painted the rest black which really helped it looked newer. Old faded trim sucks.

Oh that seems like it would work well on my bottom window trim I gotta paint every other year. Poor thing has more nail polish touch up on it than a broke street walker.

Only if you do their premium axles. The less expensive ones do not have good reviews.

Given your skills, couldn't you just reboot the ones you have?
