My first gen (yes, I know doesn't count cuz I don't own it anymore), but it was a fairly early rendition... Production date of 01/20/00 :)

Yeah.... I stumbled on that a while back. Someone put up a link to his post and that thread; pretty amazing and pretty cool!!!

I had to go back through my crap to track down a VIN and have someone look it up, otherwise I had no idea...

Ok, something new again... I didn't know the bottom of the door label had a production # on it. Now I want to hunt my old door jamb down and figure that out. Do you know if that number is documented anywhere else??

edit: based on KNABORES' I was probably in the low 200s for production #

I was told by somebody at one point in time early on that the number represents the number that your truck was produced on that particular day. ie: my tundra was the 927th tundra produced on May 9, 2000

You're right, I got confused when I saw the overhead shot and only saw the RH airbag go off.

Still hovering between $2.89-$3.29 here for a gallon of gas. Looking forward to a greater price drop.

Still mid 2.70s here. Need a front to blow in from the east and push those prices this way.

We are getting a Buc-ee's and the hype is insane. There is a very active FB fan page and the place doesn't even open until 2025. I have no preference about gas stations, I just buy from the place that has the lowest price and is convenient.

I don't use their restrooms or buy their overpriced goods so maybe that's why I don't get it.

US production is up, EV usage is up, thus demand is down. Plus more output from Brazil and Guyana. OPEC's price spikes and intentional supply cuts that would've driven up prices in the past suddenly aren't having the same impact anymore, and if anything, are backfiring. Plus huge countries like China are moving to electric personalized transportation (2-wheel stuff, scooters, bikes, etc)

I just feel bad for anyone with the BS gas pump stickers that perpetuate false narratives about what's really driving price dips/peaks. Sucks when you can't manipulate things to fit your narratives, and anyone sitting on a stockpile of them is out $$ until they find something else to blame and stick those on.

The pork rinds, beef jerky are great, supposedly the BBQ is way above average too.

I do get the appeal of a clean bathroom, but its not really something I care about. If you gotta go you gotta go. Im happy to go anywhere.

When we road trip I like to pull off a few times a day and let Dale use the facilities. A lot of the times I take a leak and check over the rig while he does his thing. A few minutes of fetch and we hit the road again.

Gas stops are canon ball run efficient. Pull up, start pump, clean glass until the pump stops, and tear tf out of there.

Fox Bros is who we've gone to for our last dozen or more thanksgivings. Whole turkey. Prices are getting up there, though. Their "burger" is just ... stupid good. I love brisket but prefer getting it with pulled chicken sub'd in place of brisket.

The key to Buc-ee's is to try and go when it isn't packed. It's basically a roadside amusement park for some people. I hated it at first but I enjoy stopping now. The food is consistently pretty good. What I like the most is taking friends that have never been and seeing their reaction.

Their catering site off Ottley, just off the interstate runs it. I'm not sure how to get on their catering email list, but they email me a reminder every year. Not sure if it's part of the main mailing list. Maybe if you mail the Catering side (catering@foxbrosbbq.com) they'll put you on their list?

Anyway, when it started it was $65 for a whole bird. Then they upped pricing to $85 for a whole bird. I think this year it was $125? (edit: it was $95) It's getting a bit spendy. But the simplicity is awesome. They pre-wrap everything in a tub andfoil it. You basically reheat in your oven at 325 IIRC, throw the bird in for 2.5-3 hours (until it hits 160 internal at the breast), and I find if you pull and leave the bird tented for 1-2 hours, it's always juicy, and it's still hot AF to cut. If you pull and cut within 30 minutes, it'll ultimately be dry. Tenting is the trick and if you can leave it resting on a rack for 2 hours, that's like ... the primo-primo perfect juicy smoked bird.

I was wrong, it was $95 this year.

Bird is avg. 10-11lb (IIRC) fully smoked to doneness for several hours, cooled, wrapped and put in a fridge the night before typically. You basically don't lift a finger, don't lose an ounce of sleep, the bird is perfectly smoked, moist, all you need to do is slap it into the oven to reheat it. For at least 12 years now, we've never had a bad turkey for Thanksgiving, and I haven't lost an ounce of effort cooking, sleeping or otherwise. Takes a gaggle of stress off. But if they raise the price any more, I'm going to need to bail, I think.
