O, it's very small and light, small fresh water lake fishing boat. it was my dads and I lost him in 2022 so it was given to me. I got a new nice roller trailer (shorelandr) for it and fixed it up. man we had a lot of good times in that thing, sure miss him

Gotcha, I've never slipped in 2wd but my boat is heavy, got me thinking which is more likely to make you slip. Heavy boat is a lot more to pull out but more weight on the rear end maybe give you traction? But probably just how much algae is on the ramp.

Sorry about your pops, awesome you guys have some memories on the boat.

ya tough deal, still no where close to over it. In full disclosure, even writing this, I have some tears going down the face, we made it 31 years in a row up to MN where we go

I spent way over what the boat was worth on a nice trailer and custom made cover, but the boat is worth more than money to me so I said phuck it.

I did add two spares as I had a major fiasco the first year up after he passed with the super old trailer, the leaf spring broke on a sat in the middle of WI. I went through two spares and finally found a fleet farm and did a field repair with a stock leaf they had that was close enough to work, and we limped in at 10-11 pm at night.

I had all my tools with me so I was lucky. Man, that was tough, two breakdowns on the interstate with wife and kids , the second was my fault. I didnt see the raised thing on the axle that keeps the leaf from sliding, so after the first repair we were fine for a while then wham, trailer darted sideways and tundra upshifted and I was in O shit mode. got it to the side of the road and saw that I missed that portion of the repair the first time, jacked it up and put on my last spare and we then made it to the fishing resort.

the wife said no way we are driving that back, so I said the hell with it and got a super nice shorelandr roller trailer up there, what a super nice trailer, folding torque, tows like a dream, sealed LED lights, craddles the boat much lower and between that and how well the new tundra tows, it really is super nice, smooth, and not stressful. Sure love the roller trailer.

I did get two spares mounted, lol, I was scarred.

Crawl control on the TRD OR works great for this. That is an amazing tool.

Not to veer off the rails and into a deep economic discussion but the Fed and Treasury also said stimuli would not cause inflation, and then once they caused inflation they said it would pass far
    More quickly than it did.

Very conceivable in my opinion that they're having a "Mission Accomplished" moment here. They do not exactly have a solid record of calling their shots. And We have had numerous reports of inflation easing only to find out it was only a blip and we weren't out of the woods.

Gotta love the old boats with memories. Last summer, I brought home the boat dad and I fished out of for 20+ years.

It's damned near worthless, as it's probably 50 years old. She's a little wide in the bow, a little narrow in the stern and at a mere 13ft long she's a tight squeeze for my family of 3. I had to replace the wood seat tops and bow hatch, seal the seams and reinforce the transom when I got it home. Next year, I need to re-work the trailer. The 2004 Merc 9.9hp runs like a top, so there's that.

I can't see myself getting rid of the ugly old thing though. Dad's still kicking but this boat has loads of fish caught, loads of deep conversations held, loads of memories with this boat. It'll stay in my fleet for life I think.

Good to hear these stories. Brings up alot of memories. I envy you guys for even be able to still use them. My Dad passed in 2015 and I got his old ranger . It had some age on it but he kept it up immaculately. Unfortunately, I couldn't stand even taking it out. I kept it for a couple years but everytime I was out in it, all I could think about was how he should be there. Just put me in a bad place. My uncle ended up with it so it would be in the family but I couldn't do it at the time. Now that time has passed I somewhat regret it but atleast it gets used and still in the family.

i really understand that, the first year up i felt all kinds of things guilty for towing it up , responsible for towing it up, I cried really hard out on the water several times , but after a while I felt better being in there where we had over 30 years together and the grandkids on there , he would want that

tough deal no matter what for those of us who were fortunate enough to have a great man raise us

shit , a few more tears rolling down

True we are not comparing apples to apples. So then what else in Toyota’s fleet is comparable to the Raptor? I love my Tundra, ironically one of the reasons I got it, I drive a Ford or Chevy a work on a daily basis and could not fathom driving one daily as a personal vehicle.

Tremors are really nice, even the F250 Tremor is on another level. Not to mention the Baja Shelby as well. Nothing in Toyotas arsenal is up to par.
Nothing in Toyotas line up compares…. The TRD Pro is the pinnacle in the Tundra line up…

There is still the Raptor R, Baja Shelby or Hennessy. They all are some insane offerings.

The Tundra is really nice truck. Don’t know how to put it without upsetting the Toyota fans…. I love my Tundy, the looks, handling, power delivery. So, yeah… Didn’t want to have to drive the same truck as a POV. DEA drives some really nice gen.3 Tundras…. SR’s at that.

I was looking at the tremor but no ventilated seats was a deal breaker for me. I think Toyota it right when the amount of people who actually need a tremor or raptor’s hardware can get a better truck built with aftermarket parts.
People on the superduty tremor forum poopoo the front lsd and question how to put a locker in, because it’s not a real off roader without lockers front and rear (implying paying for the tremor package is a waste)

I have ventilated seats…. In fact I don’t think there’s any option not offered that the Tundra has.

I prefer the torsion to a locker with IFS. At least for the type off-roading I do these days.

2 years in now and if I had to make the decision the Tremor is still my choice. There wasn't one available for months prior. But outside of the OEM battery in my 2018 truck I have more confidence in it (knock on wood), going on 6 years now, lol.... time flies, than any of the new trucks offered for where I go off road and there is no CAA/AAA there. What bothers me is I am a career IT guy, love tech, but I don't want my truck controlling me, telling me how to drive, or sensor going and it shuts down to prevent further damage, So I appreciate the simplicity of my truck.

Do you have an older Tundra ? If you are interested in the Tremor you will probably find this video interesting on the review of the new TRD pro suspension.

This. Also career IT guy, and the nerd in me loves tech...but also has to *fix it* on a daily basis, and being as I bought my Tundra to be reliable....I mean, the current truck has been. I'd love more power, but outside of towing once/twice every 2 weeks and taking trash to the dump and cleaning around the property, I drive 12 miles one way a day; and my 2020 can EASILY handle that.

I'd rather have the stiff frame. Explains why the Gen 2's jump around on the road and shudder.

I know how you feel, man. It hits at normal times, but also at the weirdest times as well. It hit me last night during, of all things, a session playing God of War: Ragnarok.

There was a scene playing, and it was like any other scene until the main character's wife said:

"The culmination of love is grief; and yet we continue to love despite the inevitable.....to grieve deeply is to have loved fully. Open your heart to the world and you will find every reason to keep living in it."

Man....I cried like a baby - not even ashamed to admit it. Dad and I had the BEST relationship and it was tough at first. It does get better though.

    (Who's cutting onions??)

My personal experience is if you are tavelling around with an empty bed I would agree with you.
But if you are using your truck with a bed full of gear compressing down, as it was designed by Sweers - its a non issue.
My 4Runner Ltd. has the suspension design similar to the new Tundra meaning a focus on nice ride and handling.
The Tundra loaded down can't equal it, but it is more than acceptable.
The 3rd Gens stiff frame and the full size truck plastic bed is a contributing reason IMO to the complaints about bed noise.

I hear this all the time...but my '20 is by far the smoothest riding truck I've ever had. Smoother by far than the '13 F150 I owned.

I can see the bed 'shaking' a smidgen more than my '13 did, but it doesn't at all translating to 'jumping around' on the road.

Have you done a road trip in a new one? Especially a new one with AVS? Much smoother and settled on the road. 40% better than my '22 F150 and the F150 was better than the Gen2.
