Quick question, should I go with the bamuffler (around $ 400) or have my local exhaust shop put in Flowmaster duals for 400$ installed? Recommendations ?

All that flowmaster will do is drop your low end tq.

Unless you go single exhaust with Flowmaster. 5.7L performs better at low end with the single. Some low end torque gain per Exhaust Pro's (Aurora) experience with that particular setup with the 5.7L. They actually recommended the single over the dual set up for off roading. They ask you first what your needs are. Love the BAM too. Should lose some low end torque with dual BAM setup too I'm thinkin.

It is from exhaust pros in northglenn, Co. So the single gives better low end torque. That's a bit tempting as that's mostly where I sit with driving. And the fact that it done for me is nice too.

Exhaust Pro on Colfax, Aurora. Been there for years. Very well known custom builder with the hot rod /racer/ 4 wheel crowd. Owner is one of the best muffler guys around. Knows what he is talking about. Not the fanciest shop around but the best IMO. I was going to get the single Flowmaster Super for $250 installed with existing stock pipes and new tip. Exhaust Pro can easily duplicate the TRD dual setup for half the cost (and better) if you want to go that route.Truly custom. ( Not for me, don't like scaring off all the critters during hunting season) I got a great deal on a Borla setup which is OK, otherwise I'd have the Flowmaster Super setup now. Probably will still do it at some point in the near future with new pipes, tip now that I have more scratch available to spend. http://exhaustproswithtires.com/

What's cool is Exhaust Pro on Colfax is a highly regarded LOCAL custom builder that you can meet face to face and be there during install and help make any adjustments to sound, build, fit, etc as it is being done real time the way you want it to be. Defines custom.

There isn't any low end loss with my dual system. The built in x pipe takes care of that. Yes, single exhaust out is better, but any muffler you put on that's not a strait thru design isn't going to help. I love the flowmaster sound, but it's not the best for any kind of power increase.

I agree. The aforementioned horsepower gains are usually at higher RPM's, like zipping thru mud bogs, at the track, freeway speeds. I'm usually at lower RPM's when working my way up old steep, rocky mining roads during hunting season at high altitude. Stock exhaust was too quiet. Needed better sound (any kind of sound) not necessarily more horsepower in my case. Got almost 400 HP as it is. My Borla certainly has helped somewhat, but it is straight thru design. I do know that Exhaust Pro claims (dyno) HP gains with single or dual Flowmaster setup. Depends a lot who builds and tunes the setup.

Depends on use. Don't hunt much? Like to scare to scare off what you are hunting? Single (or dual for that matter) exhaust with "chambered" Flowmaster gives you a decent sound and not only maintains low rpm torque, actually increases without letting everyone know you have arrived. Repeat: Depends on personal use. With your logic you might as well throw on Cherry Bombs. Sounds cool...can't have chicken dinner if you scared the chicken off. Not a "winning" combo. Non chambered mufflers suuuuuuuuuuucccccckkkk in that regard. Depends on use and personal preference.

I like BAM pipes. A great setup especially with the Helmholtz. How loud is it at low rpm under constant load? Will it scare the critters? Sound travels far up in the canyons where I hunt. It's my only concern.

It's not that loud unless you get on it. If I was going to use mine to hunt, I'd have him make a 12 inch muffler. Still get performance gains but it will be quiet. That or leave it stock. These trucks just don't get very loud unless you get on the gas.

I get what your saying. But you are fucked for hunting with a flowmaster. Resonates like a pig and is louder than my non chambered MBRP and magnaflow on the taco. The only thing a flowmaster gets you is sound. Nothing else. No low end, no high end, nothing. I had a flowmaster 50 on my first gen. Sounded awesome, but the first time I towed with it I was about to cut the whole fucking exhaust off. Low end torque sucked, high end power blew.
I ended up running a 2.5" hole saw with a massive extension through all 3 chambers.
But I digress. IMO flowmaster is a useless exhaust other than sound. Opinions are like assholes so take it as a grain of salt.

I digress too. Opinions are like ass holes. Everyone has one. Even you. Take that with a grain of salt. Tired of over the top "opinions" here. Only trying to help here. Moving on. Life is too short. Last post.

    Yeah...that's exactly what I said.
It's the internet, a forum. People have their own preferences. My preferences are based on experience. I'm not going to recommend something that turned out to be a shitty product based on my experience. Your experience may be different and you can post whatever the hell you want. Over the top opinions are easy to ignore. Don't want to read my posts...don't. Put me on your ignore list. It's that simple. I'm not going to support something that I had a negative experience with, no matter how much money I put into it. I've made more than one purchase regret in my life, but I don't make the same mistake twice. And I also have no problem putting my money where my mouth is to turn an opinion into a fact. 2 cents

I will put my .02 cents in..

Honestly the flowmaster sucks badly. I dont know of anyone more obnoxious then flowmaster. There designs are WAY OUT OF DATE and behind the times for current exhaust systems.

I dont have any (unfortunately) experience with bam. But from what I have read and seen on here they make a good product. I cant help in that category. Sorry

Main thing to remember alot of aftermarket systems lose some back pressure in turn losing hp or torque. Sadly only a few left that is really on there GAME when it comes to R&D and do it correctly with new designs and more free flow designs but still keeping back pressure.

Just a general announcement....we ALL have opinions on everything. If someone doesn't like what he/she said- ok, ignore it.
If the person is just an asshat that you don't care to see post- place them on ignore. If it escalates from there then the staff will assist.

yeah, in Thornton. the Exhaust pros I'm talking is the same as the one you are talking about, just a different location. The one in northglenn has been around since I can remember 20+ years.

I have the 6" BAMuffler. I like it. Nice rumble when driving. Still need to add the resonator. Full throttle sounds a little like no muffler at higher rpms. Kinda like an older truck exhaust sounds. I really want to hear the 8". They say it's a little deeper but quieter.

Tony, you should take a spin in my truck to see if you like this exhaust.
