I am looking at putting a small 8 ft reading service body on a regular cab 4x4 with an 8 ft bed after measuring to be sure the wheel-wells line up I am just curious, does any one know the stock weight of the 8ft bed ? mine is to far rotten to bother trying weighing it P.O.used to haul his boat to the ocean,so the salt water and road salt in new england killed the bed, thankfully the frame is new as Toyota did the frame recall just before it was sold to me bed was bad back then so I had plywood and rubber stall mats in the bed to keep things in the bed but its gotten much worse and after getting rear ended and folding the bumper into the bed as well as making the tailgate no longer function i figured i have to replace the bumper and bed any way why not try ing service bed i can get for under $500 , seems like this darn truck has been hit by everything but the lottery at this point

Welcome. My guess is that your 8' bed is no more than 400lbs. Probably closer to 300? I was surprised how light the new Double Cab bed was. 3 of us lifted it off Johns truck. One on each side and one on the back.

    Where are you in TN?

Those weights sound about right to me. Last month three of us lifted the 6.5’ bed off my Access cab. As we were carrying it around, all three of us were trying to do arm curl pumps on whatever corner of the bed we were at...trying to purposely get the other guy to drop their end on the ground. I’m not sure how much i can lift nowadays, but 6.5’ didn’t seem heavy to me. So i’m thinking another 18” of bed sheetmetal might weight an additional 20lbs?...maybe 30 if there’s another cross brace support under that 8’er? Plus add in for the tailgate on the 8’ bed and the whole shooting match might be around 350ish?
