Leveling my truck and wanting to put on 295/70-R18 all terrain tires. I was thinking about BFG a/t ko2’s but they seem very expensive and I saw on here that their quality has gone down in recent years?

I was wondering what is a very good all terrain tire that’s not as expensive as those. *If the quality is still there on the bfg’s I don’t mind spending the roughly $400 per tire though.

(If this topic has been extensively talked about please point me to the thread)

    Thanks!

I’ve not heard that the current BFG’s are poor quality. The only complaint i see is mediocre to poor wet weather traction on pickups. My BIL has them on his 2016 CM with a camper shell and several hundred pounds of equipment in there at all times, zero issues. The extra weight in the bed probably helps with the traction. New K03 coming out looks to have more siping that should help with wet weather and snow traction (haven’t heard anyone complain about snow traction though).

The Venom power tires are a knock off that are cheaper, but you get what you pay for there.

I just put 295/70r18 Toyo Trail on mine for about $1,200 locally, I'd have to dig to get the exact price but not $400 each. With that said tires are one of the things in life that you don't skimp on, not saying that high price means better but you don't want to slap on some China Bombs just because you saved a couple of bucks.

I’ve used two sets on previous trucks and loved them! I think people were saying after 2016 they were tough to get balanced right and had those type of issues.

that’s what I’m thinking- you do get what you pay for! Thanks

    I’ll rephrase for better accuracy,

you pay for what you get.

It’s rare these days to actually get what you pay for. but you do have to pay to play.

Everything in that range is pricey. I'm running these (not in your size) and they are a good tire for the money. I just looked at my records and calculated that I put 69,832 miles on my first set.

Wildpeaks in this size are around $330 each and are regarded as the best all around AT it seems. Save $70 a tire.

TireRack shows wildpeaks to be on a closeout in that size. very good price if you can get them.

Walmart tire has them at that price too. Just be forewarned that Walmart will not mount non-OE size tires on your truck unless you already have that size on there (sometimes).

Ah good to know! I was thinking about buying Walmart tires and having my preferred tire place put them on anyways. A little shopping around to do since I’m not sure what my preferred tire store has/ can get

You can still order from Walmart, and just pick them up and take them wherever you want.

Saw a lot of good stuff on those tires on the interwebs, so I ordered them online and picking them up next week. Thanks for the help guys! I’ll try to update with a pic of the leveling kit and these tires on.

Bfg’s are my go to tire. I’ve done a lot research on other options and always come back to ko2’s. Usually lighter than the competition, great durability, and snow peak rated. I have had at least eight sets over the years. Maybe the ko3’s will be even better. Made in the USA is big one for me.

I had 2 sets of BFG’s in the past on my Tacoma, I swear I got something like 80,000+ miles out of them on that truck.

Trying these out this time around. They seem high quality though.

Another vote for Falken Wildpeak AT/3. I will replace my stock tires with either those or Toyos AT3

I just replaced Cooper SST Pros with Falken Wildpeak AT3s. Love them so far. The shop I bought them from said the rep mentioned the new Wildpeak are coming out in January but had no details.

On this truck, and my last, I've had Nitto Trail Grapplers, Nitto Ridge Grapplers, BFG K02, Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT, and Cooper SST Pros. These Falken Wildpeak AT3s are up there with my favorite of the batch and definitely the quietest on the road at highway speeds.

Agreed!! The ride and noise are not too far off from the normal street tires that were on it before! IMG_2293.jpg

AT3Wa to be specific, not the AT3W that everyone on here buys. The Wa's are more street than all terrain oriented. The tread pattern and depth is closer to a passenger tire, likely for MPG and cost improvements.

If you’re not towing or doing crazy off road the Toyo AT3 snow rated in Load range C is quite a bit cheaper.

Sweet looking tires. What do you think so far? Are they noticeably louder or quieter than the K02 you've had in the past? I have K02 that came with the truck when I bought it and they have been a pain in the ass.
