Picked up our Lunar Rock 24 Limited 4x4 TRD Off road package
    at Auto Nation Toyota Irvine

it had bunch of port installed options and sticker was MSRP $67300

I was able to get it down to $62500 but they wouldn't budge on the Appearance protection package for $999 which was already applied on the car.(Assuming its ceramic waxed etc.)

I'm sure I could have gotten down to $4500~5000 if I really haggled and went in towards the end of the month but it was pretty haggle free, perfect optioned out one.

Saw a couple SoCal dealership offering similar discount upfront so haggle for a 1000 or more !

Was about to pull the trigger on new platinum but towards the end they tried adding this “theft protection “$399 fee. For some etching. Told them to remove but got the excuse it’s on all their cars and can’t. So I told them if they truly are “Honest and transparent “. As they say they would have listed it in the list of added accessories and towards total price.

Same thing happened to me right before signing. They said it was pre installed. I told them they weren’t being transparent and told them I’d walk away if they didn’t remove the fee. They asked me if I would really walk away from the deal because of the fee and I said yes. The salesman talked to the manager and the manager said they’ll ‘eat the cost’ and removed the fee. Pretty scummy move on the dealership’s end.

I had similar experience from some dealers when I shopped for my truck. Salesman (at a dealer who had no markup) told me (I don't think he was supposed to tell me) the appearance protection package is their way of hiding a markup. That package cost then almost nothing to apply and adds nothing significant to protect the truck, but it sounds better on paper than the word 'markup'.

I picked up my Platinum Max here from Beaverton Toyota in Oregon last month. The internet sales team was great to work with. But once I got there, they set me up with a very incompetent dealer. He even said, "he's so bad they're moving him to the part department". He attempted to throw in all their BS add-ons such as wheel/tire, their own VSA, and other crap. Thanks to Jerry @ Midwest for the Toyota VSA warranty and his competitive pricing, I walked away with no add-ons and negotiated a '24 Platinum Max CSM with running boards from 72k down to 66k.

The experience was definitely to be desired. They dragged their feet at every interaction and tried to take me through the ringer. Got there at 3:00 PM and didn't leave until almost 9:00 PM. And this was all with pre-approved financing from my credit union.

I'd recommend reaching out to Caitlin Teets who was good to work with.

Dang, that does not sound like a fun afternoon, but you got a solid deal off of MSRP at least! I absolutely hate dealers like that. I am not a fan of Beaverton Toyota. I used them for my 2yrs free service for my Tacoma as they were the closest dealer to me, but their prices are never the best. They usually do zero haggling so no fun there.

My plan is to buy via Damian Lillard out in McMinnville as they never went above MSRP during covid and never added junk protection like Beaverton did. Great prices, too. Or even head down to Grants Pass as they have had the best advertised discounts in the entire state.

Caitlin is texting me right now haha Offered $4,300 off a Limited, but it doesnt have the options I want. $4.3k off msrp isnt enough off more me anyways.

Interesting. I was almost considering traveling down to KFalls for a platinum that was going for 66k and then out of the blue caitlin threw this out at me after a few weeks/months of haggling. I hear good things about Lillard's even if he plays for the Bucks. Good luck in your search.

Yeah, I have been looking at KFalls as well. Lots of those dealers Eugene and lower advertise good discounts right from the get go. Not sure how willing they are to negotiate from there though.

I have a feeling around year end dealers will be looking to sell as many as they can. I am hoping one or two of them will have the truck I want at that time. It seems rear air suspension has become very rare on the limited just in the past few months.

Yes, bummer he is gone, but hopefully his dealership still stays around! ha

I live in central Illinois. In process of buying a '24 1794 but haven't come to terms yet. Truck is advertised at $70,323. So far Dealer says they can't come down due to only 3-5% markup. So it all depends upon my trade ins value.

Hmm non hybrid or hybrid? Non hybrid 1794's around me are advertised $4-5k off without even reaching out.

If I was you, I'd reach out to a few dealers around you for competitive pricing and negotiate a fair price. If they're not budging at $70k, I'd shop elsewhere.

Also, not sure if you are familiar with public Toyota allocation spreadsheets by searching the web but a resource created by Johny5 put together allocation spreadsheets for all Toyota models I think and made them available to the public. I leveraged and monitored these sheets for several months before making my purchase. Not sure if I am allowed to post here but do a search on the web for them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe 1794's are ONLY hybrid. Platinum and TRD Pro are also only hybrid.

    Nope, 1794's are both.

Platinum's are definitely not only hybrid as well.

Edit: I wonder if your dealer is trying to upsell you into a hybrid. I assume he/she is the one that told you all Platinum's and 1794's are hybrids? If so, definitely tell that dealer to go pound sand.

I wish I had that excuse! They stopped trying to sell me when I kept showing up daily(I work at a dealership). IIRC when it was launched MAYBE the higher trims were only Hybrid, but who knows. I haven't kept up on model's and options recently. Appreciate you keeping me updated!

I see your GMC and raise you my local Ram dealerIMG_0635.png

this dealer has had 40-60 rams on the lot for months. $10-16k off msrp without even reaching out to them.

Is the big horn and the SLT same-ish when it comes to options and add ons? One year difference so I guess the 5k makes up for it

Hmm not to sure on how they line up across brands. I’ve never really looked at Ram so not even sure what the names of all their trims are.

Same dealer for 2024’s are $12-13k below msrp.

Smoke and mirrors. The domestic market the dealers using excuse of inventory shortages to mark up $5-10K over MSRP post Covid subsequently pissing off a lot of customers and potential repeat business down the road. The big 3 as of late have artificially increased MSRP's so dealers can now give illusion of deep discounts in an attempt to make dealers look like heroes again.

same as big box stores. Raise the price 10% then slap a 10% discount on items such as clothes and tv.

Exactly, post Covid as production started to ramp up followed by domestic dealers lots started filling up again. BUT the sales market softened (multiple factors) causing manufacturers/dealers to kind of go into damage control mode.

I was just offered $10,000 off msrp for a Capstone. The dealer has 2 of them listed on their website at $5,500 off msrp. I didn't even ask about them as I am interested in a Limited. They just offered one to me at that discount. If anyone is interested the dealer is in southern Oregon. I can give you the salesman's name who offered it to me.

Just saw 2023 Tundra sales were up 20 percent vs 2022 to 125k units. But rebates are increasing. I wonder if sales were top heavy earlier and waning late, or market is cooling for the high $ models. Stellanis is dying on Ram and Jeep sales as they have escalated way past their traditional customers willingness or ability to pay. I think all the fullsize trucks are endanger of that. Be like full size SUVs that priced many people into CUVs. All the makers are updating their small trucks to catch those dropping from full sizes

They also offered $5k off a limited TRD off-road hybrid as their first offer. Don’t want the hybrid nor the off road trim. Also only had 5.5ft bed.

The 3-4 dealers around me have 25-35 2024 tundras sitting on the lot. Production has caught up to demand and then some. Should be some good deals to be had this year.
