Anyone starting to dig their sleds out from the corner of the shed? Bought new parts/gear for the upcoming season?

Getting ‘02 Summit out and cleaning the dust off is on my to-do list, but it’s getting listed for sale when I do. :(

But that’s because I bought a ‘10 Nytro 162 back in the summer. :) Have to put new sliders on it, and do a couple minor things, including an oil change. That sounds weird to say.

Cannot beat Yamaha reliability imo. How many km between oil changes? Pics?

I don’t think I’ve taken any pics of it to be honest. o_O I’ll have to do that soon.

Not sure on the recommended intervals off the top of my head, pretty much a once / year thing if I’m not mistaken. This sled only has 750 km on it, and I don’t know when it was last changed so it’s getting fresh oil to start out with me. I think oil / filter change costs work out about the same as buying 2smoke oil.

Longevity and better fuel efficiency of the 4 stroke were enough for me to give it a whirl, I don’t think the bit extra weight will be too detrimental for my kind of riding, and I’m pretty sure my knee will appreciate the suspension upgrade over the old sled.

probably is…. I would like to sell it and no idea how much coolant ran through it though this is the first notice of it. I have noticed in the past that the cooling system is pressurized when engine is cold, not sure if that is a clue?
Will toss some orings at it and be honest during the sale i guess.

Currently waiting on my 21 SKS 850 146 and 22 XC 850 146 to get back from being clutched. Should be night and day compared to how they were. Also eagerly anticipating the northeast to actually get cold and snow

    Sled drama anyone?

Bought a 2015 xm for and giving it a second lease on life.

Had to cut off the seized skiis, change bent spindles, re grease, re bushing the front end, swap an a arm and ball joint, fix the air box, change the bent bars, trashed carbides, worn out sliders, blown rear shock… still have to service entire rear skid and change a bushing or 2, 2 idler bearing, spring guides…
Hoping the motor is good lol

what the heck happened to that snowmobile? I’ve got a 2015 skidoo Ace 900 and it doesn’t need any of that stuff. Did somebody toss it in the lake?

Mountain sled are often ridden hard and put away wet. Not how I roll but this one was the best of the 4 I looked at if you believe it. spent $1k on parts so $8k all in so far.
Cannot justify $20k for a new one.
How many miles on your ace900?

Well I finally got the Nytro out for a rip today, my first ride on it.

    112 km later…

Pretty darn happy overall. Snow conditions weren’t great, but not terrible for this year either. About 2’ of crusty base with 4-5” of fluff on top from earlier in the week.

Dang, it looks like a short track machine in that first pic, not the 162 that it is.

First ride of the season and first ride on the new/used sled. Couple of minor issues but overall it seems loyal.
Managed to find some fresh snow to play in and also got in 6-7 snowboard laps.

I have around 8000 miles on it, generally ride it in UP Michigan, put 1000 miles on it last year, the conditions have been terrible up there, so I haven’t ridden at all this year

I took a day off work last week while the weather and snow were favourable - it turned into a bluebird afternoon.

And I managed to end up in a tree well. There went 40 minutes of the day. No damage at least.

My buddy with a bit of boost under his skis - he’s riding a turbo nytro (180 hp) with a 174x3 track stuffed under it.

I finally got the Yammy out last weekend, first time this year.

I had some work to do to it after last season because it wore clear through the new sliders in 300 km, mostly my last ride in March. Trail conditions were hard and iced up, but still, we weren’t riding on dirt. Even the track clips turned blue from the heat.:eek2:

It turned out the previous owner had removed two idler front wheels on the skid, and these machines are known for this anyway as the idler wheels aren’t big enough to take any weight until the sliders wear most of the way through. So I replaced all idlers (including the missing two) with oversized Kimpex wheels, and added two more a bit further back. Installed new white sliders and carbide cable scratchers to replace the spring ones that didn’t fit with the added wheels.

I also made an exhaust turn-out using a 2” SS mandrel bent elbow, stretched to fit the muffler exit. This was to get rid of the crappy tunnel dump elbow from the PO, that hole in the tunnel has since been fixed. I decided less heat in the tunnel couldn’t hurt with the slider problem.

So far, so good with the improvements with no wear noted yet. It was nice and powdery last weekend, and temps were about -10 C, so that didn’t hurt.

My brother got stuck 3x to my zero, so that added icing to the cake.:D

Did the head gaskets (twice as first set shifted during install) on the old xp and it ran flawless on the last hut trip.
Pretty impressed for a 14 year old machine with 7000km.

A few more wheels in the skid never hurts, the new machines come with hardly any at all.
