I always think about this but don't because I know most people treat these like appliances and it's just another truck to them.

www.amayama.com is another option that's quite similar. Sometimes you can nab parts discontinued here in North America.

Yeah, I always have that in the back of my head but IDGAF. I still do it. I'm sure it makes people's day, or at minimum it makes them think, "WHO THE FUCK IS THAT GUY AND WHY IS HE WAVING AT ME?!"`

Exactly. Anytime I’ve asked another owner about their FGT they’re clueless and couldn’t care less. We are the minority.

That's a ton compared to what I see. When I do see a 1GT, it's always ultra rusted or beat to hell. Just like everyone else says, most people just think it’s an old work truck. Nice ones here just don’t really exist. I saw a minty T100 a few weeks ago while walking, was so shocked I tripped and nearly fell over.

The only "nice" 1GT I've seen near me was this one, which happened to be owned by a kid at my high school:
    IMG_2731.jpg

It was pristine on the outside but he ended up selling it because the frame was shot. Of course.

Same here, except for one time when a dude driving a lifted '06 on Method wheels yelled at me while I was underneath my truck in my driveway, close to the street. Talked to him for a minute while he waited for the light at the end of my block.

Didn't get his name but it was like "woah, people who actually care about these trucks are real?? Not just programmed users inside my laptop???"

I see them in Knoxville all the time. My neighborhood alone has 4 including mine. If I take a drive around town it's not uncommon to pass 2-3.

I've noticed the same thing that older guys seem to drive them. Probably smarter with their money than younger dudes.

I did! Purchased new from Tom's CamperLand here in the Phoenix/Mesa area very early on...The clearcoat finally failed, so last month I had it repainted. Not perfect or show quality, but much better than fading and peeling clearcoat. Wish I could raise it higher, maxed out at 33 inches from closed tailgate.

That's awesome. Paint looks great considering how difficult it is to match a silver/gray like Silver Sky Metallic.

Same here with the opening height, just a few more inches of opening would do a lot. That said, it's pretty easy to remove with another person.

It's actually more "sparkley" than the aging original paint...Can't complain. Just noticed I took those pictures right after bringing it home. Liberally coated in shop dust.

Got it fixed today, it was my carrier bearing. New carrier bearing and new u joint. Took me about 5 hours to get it done by my self, got some help from my brother with u joint. U joint was hardest part, I rented a pressing tool,(C clamp) from Autozone, $168 but you get all your dinero back. Unfortunately I accidentally erased my marks on the back part of the drive shaft, test drove it and it drives good, no more squealing sound when driving in reverse and saved my self 300 bucks.

So thinking about this, could it be the injectors messing up? Do we have anything definitive on the IACV for the V8s? I'm not throwing O2 codes, but could they be sus? I'm gonna get another vacuum hose kit and replace any more lines I see. Can someone link me to a good spring hose clamp set? Those are the kinds we like, right?

So, these for washer nozzles? I was actually annoyed by that on my drive to Sacramento last weekend. Rained like mad in Oregon and more dry past the top of nor cal so bugs started smearing.

The link I sent showed the IACV was controlled by the ECTS, fancy name for the components that control throttle position. So the TPS, the throttle bottle actuator motor, the MAF and maybe some other sensors work together to determine TB butterfly position instead of having a separate IACV that meters air at idle. So cleaning the MAF and TB butterfly would be free fixes potentially. If there’s no code, I doubt any of the components have outright failed, and your cause could be something else then.

Is it a dead miss on a single cylinder, or a random miss on multiple? Are you able to tell with it loping so bad?

Seems so odd to me that there isn't any CEL, but I had to do back-to-back full throttle uphill runs to get my truck to throw a misfire code.

It's all over the place I'm sure. I can't find my stupid code reader and my stupid CEL is burnt out. It shakes/lopes bad enough I could probably take a video of it and it would show.

Exhaust smoking real bad? Sounds like a misfire. My 03 was missing on cylinder 7 when I bought it and again a year later. I changed the all spark plugs and the 7th coil pack the first time. The second time I changed the 7th spark plug and coil pack again. Just recently it's started missing again but it was cylinder 8. I finally got my DD injectors installed (after buying em like 2 years ago) and that solved the misfire on 8.
I'm still fighting po420 and po430. I'm hoping it's just an exhaust leak. I bought off brand new cats two years ago and don't want to replace em already. Truck only has to pass emissions til 2028

No smoke, and the last time I read codes it had 18. 8 misfire, 8 pending misfire and 2 MAF.

Yea i didnt know those years got rid of the bed side moulding. Toyota mustve realized it looked better too, haha. Or saved them money

I never knew about rubbing compound. The first side i spent forever trying to get rid of the stain around the moulding after i removed it. Did a google search and saw rubbing compound was recommended for removing those stains. Quick trip to the auto store and that stuff took the stain off in seconds. Pretty awesome!

Yeah, but its' basically like ultra-fine wet sanding in how it operates (abrasive). So make sure you follow-up with a legit polish in similar circular fashion, then top with a coat of wax.
