@Socal4r. If you are thinking of buying the Toyota Platinum warranty you have to buy it before your 3yr 36000 mile warranty ends. Your 3 years starts on your in service date not build date. Any dealer can give you your in service date including Jerry.

Are you guys getting a quick turnaround response? I emailed Jerry twice in the last two weeks with no answer. I don’t want to blow him up. I’m thinking of calling him later this week

Just got a 2024 Tundra Platinum w/TRD package in Magnetic Gray. Such an awesome looking truck. I signed up for the extended warranty (84 month/75k) and maintenance plan (72 month/85k) but will plan on cancelling (why is it easier to get out of there by agreeing to it initially). Would like Jerry's contact info as well to research whether getting now through him is best option. Thanks in advance!

Hello! Just got a 2024 Tundra SR5 Premium and am considering the warranty. For glass and total coverage, the dealer is quoting $7000. Apparently someone named Jerry from Kansas might be able to beat this price? This is the first extended warranty for a vehicle I'm considering, but it seems a lot of owners feel it's a good idea, given the potential electrical issues. Here in Montana, we have a lot of glass claims and we were advised by our insurance broker to avoid making any claims if possible. Any thoughts, recs or contacts for other extended warranties would be appreciated. Good to be here and a member of the Tundra fam.

Thanks Blufin! Yes, stoked to finally be in the club. Have had Tundra envy for many years (though I still love the Outback). Yes I should have specified about the warranty terms, that is for 96mos or 100k miles of electrical/dents/dings/whatever and also 5 years of glass protection. Sounds like that is way too much. Wondering if you have suggestions on other options? I know there is a person named Jerry who offers better rates for the extended warranty? Any thoughts? TIA!

I smell something foul in what they are offering you. No warranty covers dings, dents for example. No extended warranty is bumper to bumper. Others have said this and I strongly urge you to read the list of what is covered and what IS NOT covered. If they won’t let you read the list tell them to stuff it because they are over promising and lying to you. Even the Toyota Platinum 10yr 125k mile warranty has a list of things it does not cover. BTW it will only cost around 2000. Good luck with your purchase.

Thanks PERRY1060. So, the dealer seems to package multiple things together, something called PreferredPlus Protection from RoadVantage (Tire/Wheel, paintless dent repair, key replacement, cosmetic wheel coverage and windshield repair/replacement) and also Automotive Preferred Care+Plus from CNA. I'm attaching the brochures they gave me so y'all have the full info. It looks pretty comprehensive (read: expensive). Plus the Clear Bra coating to protect from rock damage. The PreferredPlus is 96mos or 150k mi. The Road Vantage is 60 mos. I am gonna check in with Jerry Johnson and might also call Toyota corporate to check a couple things. It seems like the dealerships reserve the right to make it difficult/expensive to use warranties that were not purchased through them. Maybe I'm wrong?

The covered components list looks decent. When I was a service writer the other thing that would happen with non OEM warranties is they would say we will pay this much for the repair. The actual cost was often more. When you get the OEM warranty it is paid in full on covered repairs. Hope this info is helpful as you compare warranties.

Thanks PERRY1060, that is very helpful. Sounds like you have a lot of experience in these matters. I am curious about something: When you say OEM warranty, are you referring to the warranty offered by the dealership I bought from (and got the attached pamphlets from)? I am curious about the VSA that is offered by Jerry Johnson in Kansas, who apparently works for a Toyota dealership and sells the 100K VSA for $2k. Would that also be considered OEM, given that it is coming from a dealership in a different state? Sorry to sound obtuse, I have never been through this before. I appreciate you weighing in!

Great question. If you own a Toyota the OEM Original Equipment Manufacturer warranty is a Toyota extended warranty. This is what Jerry sells. CNA is an aftermarket or non OEM company and warranty even though a Toyota dealer sells it to you. Most service departments prefer to work with an OEM warranty. If the repair is covered by OEM warranty they submit it and they are done. With CNA they have to call CNA, submit claim, get approval, negotiate the amount, maybe wait for CNA adjuster to inspect the vehicle, then they can submit it and get paid. If CNA won’t pay the full amount of repair you have to pay the difference. CNA may be a good company but most aftermarket warranties are a pain in the rear to work with. Some service departments won’t even work with some of the aftermarket companies. Then you have to pay the bill yourself, submit the bill to your warranty company and try to get reimbursed. If Toyota Platinum extended warranty covers the same components and cost less I would always buy that one. Plus it is good at any Toyota dealer in the US and I think Canada.
