Not so simple when when somebody else is making it. Take that phone apart and look at the components inside. Pretty freaking tiny for so much power. We used to make most of our chip requirements here. Not any more. The only chips made here of any importance are hybrid chips used in military and aerospace applications. Ask how I know. We all saw what happened with the chip shortage when that Japanese plant burnt down. There's a reason why Taiwan is so vital. Would cost a fortune now to rebuild up our own chip making ability again. The display requires Monazite. A rare earth. I wonder who has the corner on that market? Nothing simple about a cell phone when you dig deeper.

China has the capability now to mass produce EV's. If you make enough of them cheaply, the cost of meeting requirements here can be overcome. I'd bet there are already plans to buy property here for new plants jointly owned by the Chinese.

Not taking over, but definitely taking a slice of the pie. Just as Chinese EVs would not take over the American auto market, but would take a slice of the EV pie.

just want to clarify. You have to have a tax liability of $7500 to get all of it. But let’s be honest, if you’re shopping a $50-60k car you have that liability . Last I calculated a single person table income level to get the full credit was around $60k

Pretty sure I've only taken the standard deduction in recent years when filing my taxes, and I make a lot more than $60k. Single income family of 4, claiming 2.

I usually get back $3-5k every year, am I missing something here?

He's just saying that if at the end of the year after your return if you haven't paid $7500 in federal income tax, then you would not get the full $7500 tax credit. Loose math would put anyone making over $60K as paying that much.

Line 24 on a 1040 would need to be $7500 or more.

Nope. I don't want to be staring at my dash. I hate the digital ones in the new vehicles and this is just going further in that direction.

I actually really like the digital one I had in the tundra.

I heard new Model 3 and CT will have blind spot indicators

I mean, the screen shows when there’s cars near you, and colors them red when signaling if it’s not safe, (along with camera pop up) idk why they didn’t just add the indicators to the mirrors too
