    Lots of stuff!
So we picked up a new car for my wife today. We got a VW ID.4 AWD Full Electric. While we were going through the car, I was waiting for the salesman to tell us the we only get one fob and it will be 8 months before we get the second one.

What a surprise to see 2 (TWO) shiny key fobs being handed to us! What gives Toyota??

Go buy one of the big three and get back to us.
It's just a key fob, not like we only got three wheels, one wiper blade.... camera removal, deleted heated steering, deleted massage seats. We are getting the fobs now, big three are not going to have you come back to add the deleted options if you read the other forums. Ford give $140 credit for deleted heated steering wheel and may cost $500 plus to add it your self. As soon as fall hit the owner are now wishing they kept there previous car/truck that had the heated options..

Vw I think is as big as Toyota but it would be interesting to see what there doing differently over the chip shortage.

When I got the 2018 ford stupid me assumed it had adaptive cruise control-I was wrong and some were able to add it for $1000 and alot of time to make it work. So that truck never had it and I used it all the time on the wife's rav4. Now the tundra has it and I just got the notification that I can make an appointment to get the second fob. Never missed it and now it will hang on my wall for years to come.

Congrats on your new car purchase and happy Thanksgiving!

I couldn't even imagine what the big 3 are going through. How you convince people to buy vehicles that are missing systems and how those can be added later seems like a huge issue.

One thing I did notice in all the new car paperwork was that VW didn't have a heat pump for the car due to shortages. So I guess no car manufacturer is exempt from this.

I guess a key fob is low on the list of challenges.

Thanks for the "heads up!". After reading your comments, I looked at my app this morning and I have a notification to get my 2nd Fob. Purchased in March 23.

I also have that alert for the Parking Brake. I'm going to call the dealership to get on the schedule tomorrow. I only have 7,400 miles so far but I'm going to ask the dealer if they can do the 10K oil change. I changed my oil on my own at 3,100 miles.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I may pass on the oil change and just get the tires rotated. Already changed oil @ 2500 miles.

What's the heat pump for? Sounds very important.

I have a BMW i3 and the model I got doesn't have a heat either, mine was because it came with a little generator. The heat pump is supposed to be more efficient using about half the power compared to an electric heater. So it does make a bit of difference. But I haven't missed the heat pump in the BMW. Our climate isn't very cold here compared to the rest of Canada or the East! Most of the time I don't even use the heat.

The new car has a huge range so the effects on the battery wont be noticed at all.

I'm reading the heat pump was an option in Canada and they don't offer it now due to the chip shortage. Did they offer a heat pump as an option in the states? So a old fashion resistant heater is all they get, that will affect the range in the cold. Reading also premium stereo deleted, folding mirrors and 360 camera.

I think the heat pump would have been included in the package that we got. I don’t think it can be added without significant work to the car. A fob is much easier! :)

    None yet, just bought 9/30/23
I got mine last week, while the dealer did two other recalls: something with the parking brake system, and the tonneau cover rails.

I have received the 2nd Key FOB. It took 8 months. You will get a letter in the mail when the Key FOB is ready to be picked up. The letter states it is a recall. Then make arrangements with your dealer to get it programmed to your vehicle. No Charge for the Key FOB or Programming... If you lose or break the FOB, it will cost $300-$400 for a replacement including the programming charge.

I got notification on the toyota app long before the snail mail letter. Make sure to find that second key insert that you received when you first got the truck. That is NOT included when you get the second keyfob.

It’s comin man. They’re up to July now. You’re next!! Fuel line - meh!! You have a better chance getting hit by lightning than a fire from that.

    LOL
Fuel line is not an immediate issue, they see it could be as the milage gets up there. I didn't see anything about not parking in your garage or next to your house as other manufacturers have had to do.
March build and got the key fob notification on Monday as promised by ryann.
Have some patience and have a Merry Christmas!

Not sure when my truck was built, but I purchased on 5/30/23. Checked the app on Monday after the holidays and said to call the dealership. Picking up my second key later this afternoon as well as having that ECU reset done

Well, I'm not surprised that someone is being told 6 months out. Toyota itself hasn't came out and officially said a timeframe.
