That's true, but there are some who are smart enough to just stick to business. I also respect the business' right to take a stand should they choose to, but when you push a hot button issue, you are going to get some blowback and fallout. Up to them to decide if it's worth it.

I tend to go case by case and how things are handled/worked. Hypocrisy like Under Armor's move makes them difficult to support, and then there are just stupid stances like the one Dick's went all in on. If you are the only game in town, like for battery technology, then you can get away with much more out of necessity to function in today's world. There's a bunch of different clothing providers and sporting good stores, though.

Patagonia is another one I won't give money to because of their hypocrisy.

I’m waiting for the day they find microbes that will eat the majority of plastics and we can just bury that shit in a pit filled with them.

Yes. I had two pairs of wool socks on. Three layers on my legs and 4 layers on my upper body along with a face covering and two layers on my head. They had 9 of us in a old VW van for 6 hours that apparently had little to no heat. All the windows were covered in ice on the INSIDE. We were miserable. Gear can only do so much when you're subjected to those temps for that long. If I never experience those temperatures again that will be fine by me. We ended up in a rural area around 35 miles from the Russian border. It was wild.

We were actually colder doing the northern lights tour than we were snowmobiling(also -20F). Those heated handlebars really help and they provided thermal suits for that.

Yesterday we got in the sauna and then walked outside and got in the Baltic Sea. That was intense.

Sort of wondering if I should buy a Netgear Wifi 6 router on sale for 1/2 off now ($79) to replace my Linksys that has a bad Ethernet port and is over 5 years old or hold out another year till Wi-Fi 6E comes down in price.

    Decisions.

For $80 it’s worth a year of good WiFi. Whatever you buy will always obsolete itself in a year or two. Waiting just leaves you further behind most of the time.

Went ahead and bought it. Linksys had something similar for $60 on sale but I think I’ll try Netgear out. I’ve used them in the past for the early 802.11n routers.

You actually replace your routers every year? We've run the same one for years. I didn't know I should be upgrading. We're about to switch providers and I will have to buy one since we're currently "borrowing" one from AT&T.

Every other year or so is more like it. I also occasionally go in and check for updates. Security patches sometimes mess with connecting abilities on devices.

Growing up, two of our neighbors were involved in Home Exchange / House Swap clubs.
You join one of these clubs & swap houses with someone that lives where you want to go. They stay in your house, you stay in their house.
It worked well several times for the one neighbor. The other tried it & the people staying in their house set the couch on fires - so that wasn't great.
Still a bunch of those clubs out there. Dunno if you could do it with a trailer on your property or an in-law apartment.

If I cancel the brand because some other people got the brand to cancel a sponsorship, doesn’t that make me just as big of a snowflake for letting actions initiated by someone with pink hair influence my buying choices? Or maybe even an even bigger snowflake because I don’t even have pink hair, so, like, what’s my excuse? Asking for a friend.

At some point this cancel culture nonsense has to stop. It’s like gang warfare, we’re like trying to cancel out peoples cancels at this point and the only people who DON’T look like petty dumbasses are those who are choosing not to play. Not knocking, of course, and I’m joking, sort of, but … I just … I dunno man. It all seems so silly to me. Everyone start giving a shit about whether products are being made in the USA or not, as much as you care about corporate sponsorships, and our country might flourish again. Get your head out of the petty BS, for crying out loud :D

Nope. It's just showing that everyone has a line and can choose to spend money where they like. How else do I convey to a business that I disagree with their policies, procedures, or treatment of people they "support?" I take my business elsewhere.

The big difference here is that I'm not "canceling" anyone. I'm making a personal choice. I'm not harassing a business in hopes of costing someone they support anything financial. I'm not rallying the internet against them and demanding they fire people.

I'm slightly irritated to have been labeled as part of cancel culture, but people tend to make broad sweeping statements likethat and it's bound to happen.

I think it would have to be a bit more egregious for me to not buy something of great use to me. Like clubbing puppies, or evicting nuns from orphanages. Not concerned with mere preferences of other folks. It’s America, everyone can have a preference, even if it’s not mine.
