Hello new to the group, located in Vancouver BC, wanted to get away from my jeep to something more reliable so bought an 08 tundra with 396k on it and no start issues lol.
Well I traced it down to what i thought was a bad fuel pump so pulled it all apart and decided to run a carfax and found out the fuelpump and fuel control module was done 6000km ago so thats what brought me here.
Bought the truck traced power going back to the pump from the relay and pulled the hose at the rail off and cranked and nothing came out. That was my quick diagnosis, had it towed home and tried starting again, fired right up, reved the engine all seemed fine idled for about 30 min then drove around the block and parked. Came back later to move it into the garage it started then put in gear and stalled. So i proceeded to remove the fuel pump.
Now im hear not wanting to spend money on parts if they are fine.
Any advice would be helpful. Im going to do furthur testing but my time is limited so ill do what i can and when i can.
It also has the came tower leaks fairly bad by the looks of it but ill know more when im able to drive it
    Update
Found the shop that worked on it previously and they told me they belieived it to be a bad pcm sending out improper voltage to the fcm, they said they told the customer this but opted to just do the fuel pump and fcm

Welcome aboard! I don't think it's your fuel pump if that helps. Often the symptom is not the cause. At that mileage anything could be the culprit. You should definitely ask your question in the 2nd Gen sub forum and add in your trucks cab type, engine and driveline configuration to help. There were 3 engines available that year.

That depends on how the ECM reacts to such input. Maybe a possibility that it would not supply fuel. I think it's worth looking into. It might cut both fire and fuel.

Sorry slow at getting around to this. New pcm installed, started for short time then died, now nothing, no spark, fuel is pumping, and no start. No codes on my readed, and not showing rpm, possible crankshaft sensor but I tested it and seems to work.
    Hmm

Did you just slap the new computer in and try it? Pretty sure there's more to it than that. Is it FF? If so, look at the ethanol numbers to see if they're off the charts. You may need to reset the trims.

I had drove it around the block a couple times then i was letting it idle and checking under the hood and it just quit, unable to start after that. It was running perfect so thats i was confused.

400k, as in kilometers? If yes, then you are really only 210k miles. That's not a lot.

Does the truck have the immobilizer system? Look for the flashing key icon in the temperature/time gauge.

With the key out, that icon should be slowly flashing. That's normal.

With the key in the ignition, the icon should be dark.

I'm only suggesting things to eliminate.

    Report back with results.

Yeah kilometers, yeah the immobilizer stops flashing with ignition on so assuming thats working properly.

Not a flex fuel, that came in 2010.
Possibly the starter, 210k is usually the average mileage they go out. Mine stalled out in Drive and had to call the tow truck for 1/4 mile tow... You can test this out l, by the starter relay. Pull it and I believe its right and top tooth while looking inside the cab from the front of the truck, jump it with a wire while they key is in the on position. If you get a click and nothing else then it may be the starter if it turns on then its a ground or wiring issue from the relay to the ignition.

Can you pull the spark plugs one by one (leave them connected to the coil packs) and have someone turn ignition?

Perhaps you have a loose ground connection somewhere and when it loses contact it loses fire and dies. Probably never needed a brain.

Sorry for late updates life and kids, just had bylaw tow my truck for "blocking the ally" it was not a idiot of a garbage man just looking to cause a problem. Anyways got it towed back to my place and the driver slipped it in my garage so no more working in the rain. After lots of reading decided to check the MAF sensor tonight cleaned it with some alcohol and blew it off and the truck started and ran but soon stuttered and died. Did this a few times and think this may be the problem. Ill get a new one in the morning and test.

Side note bylaw gave me 24 hrs to move my vehicle, it was sticking out in the ally a bit so i winched it up next to the garage door with my jeep that was stuck in the garage so it was way outta the way, ive had the flu all week so really didnt want to do any of this but i had to. Anyways they came back less than 24hrs later(1710-1300) and had tow truck come, so spent the afternoon on the phone pissed tired and cranky and could not get ahold of the supervisor on a friday afternoon to take care of it so had to fork out 400 bucks to get it back to me for the weekend to work on.
Sorry for the rant but its been a week ill show a pic before i winched the truck in.

You can try to unplug the MAF sensor and start it. It should have a built in air fuel ratio to still run just not at the best possible ratio.

Think i figured it out, in short the sais power wire is shorting to a engine clamp. No physical damage but when i press the wire to the steel engine stalls, i was messing around with some connectors for the vvt solenoids and heard some weird frequency going on opened up the loom cut the zip ties to the bracket and took a bit to figure it out but I wanted to get it to stall out so i could pinpoint the issue.
    Heres a quick youtube vid
    https://youtu.be/V3agNCvRr3k?si=JRednub3Z-EnrGD3
    Probably just delete this system
Think im into the truck for about $9k now, still pissed i payed $1400 for taxes
